***This is a 7-day auction, ending Sunday night. I do not have a buy it now listed, but will consider any serious offers. I reserve the right to end the auction early at any time***
For sale: 1989 Ford F150 Ranger XLT Lariat 4x4 rust free western survivor. It's the heavy duty half ton with the 6250 GVW. This truck was purchased new by a former co-worker at Bitterroot Ford in Missoula, MT with an 8" camper for just under $21k. He was a fellow engineer, meticulous about his trucks. He saved every scrap of paper on the truck from day one including the window sticker, sales contract, warranty paperwork, manuals, all receipts, logbook, etc. He owned it until 2003, and sold to an older neighbor, who was equally fussy. The neighbor drove it till 2010, and sold it to his best friend, who was also in his 70s. I saw the truck at the estate sale last fall, recognized it as my coworker's well-cared for old rig, and bought it on the spot. I added up all the receipts that came with the truck and it totals $16,802.16 including $3500 for a new engine installed at the local Ford dealership at about 95k miles. I've used it as a winter driver and put a couple thousand miles on it, now my needs have changed, and its time to pay it forward and pass it along to the next owner. 159,822k miles but that may go up a bit as I am still driving it some. Clean CarFax, quality Glasstite topper shown is included, rear hatch locks and I have the keys. PLEASE see the Photobucket album link with pics including the underside in the description below.
Exterior: Originally a solid Colonial White truck, the original owner had the dealership add the gray panel, it's written right on the original sales contract. Presents well at 20 feet, but it is somewhat faded, and clear coat is peeling on passenger side of box, as was typical of this era. Paint has been touched up in several spots on hood and roof. NO RUST that I can see anywhere. Underside looks good with only minor surface discoloration, of course we don't see frame rot here out here in Marlboro country. Please see Photobucket link below for close up detail pics including undercarriage. Hitch ball on front bumper is for launching a boat from a trailer. Just an honest survivor to use as is for your backup rig or cabin/lake truck, jump in and go.
Interior: All original in decent driver condition, a few tears in seat upholstery under blanket cover. No cracks in dash, door panels, headliner. Original carpet is in good condition. Glass is good including windshield, which has been replaced. Leather steering wheel wrap has wear on top edge. I believe everything works, lights, gauges, radio, heater, wipers, cruise, etc but AC doesn't blow ice cold. No rodents or smells. Even the wife will like it.
Mechanical: Starts, runs, and drives out well, and gets decent fuel economy with 5.0 EFI engine and 4 speed transmission. No noticeable noise/smoke/leaks. This drive train combo is tried and true, and proven to be a rolling anvil for reliability. No overdrive, so it's great in town, but RPM's are high at modern Interstate speeds. I believe absolutely everything works but A/C, it blows but not ice cold. As mentioned, over $16k has been spent on the truck replacing just about every wear item imaginable - suspension, steering, brakes, etc. All documentation included. Still has the smog equipment and original catalytic converter, but I can't guarantee it will pass smog as Montana has no testing. Does have a shifter buzz at higher rpms but trans works great. Can't think of anything pressing it needs, but 31 x 10.50 tires are old(and different brands) so plan on that. Keep in mind that it is an older rig and will need further maintenance along the way. If you live in a state with very strict vehicle inspections, they will probably find something for you to fix, so expect that.
