Car description |

Somehow, here we are, friends. We’re all feeling cooped up, completely frustrated, and going absolutely stir crazy. Some of us are mourning the loss of loved ones, too. We're all seeking ways to escape right now.I’m grateful for a very small collection of classic cars and trucks during this difficult time in our country. For me, it’s during uncertain times that I crave normalcy most. Driving old cars & trucks isingrainedin my soul, and the most normal thing I can do right now is get in one of my old trucks and take off for a couple hours. It calms me down, and reminds me that things WILL be ok. If you’re reading and nodding, I think you’re seeking that same feeling… My Purchase and Exterior Condition I was so excited when I saw this truck come off the trailer for the first time last year. It was late Fall, so the truck almost immediately went into storage, but I had a couple days to really look it over. During that time, it became apparent that this has been a well cared for pickup that spent a bunch of time in the garage over the years. In a time when more people smoked, it was also refreshing to see the truck was never smoked in and the lighter never used. I’ll let the 225+ photos and 7 videos tell the story of this beautiful truck, but I’d like to share some additional information. This truck wears approximately 95% original paint. As suspected, there was a minor accident on the CarFax report in 2012 and the driver's front fender was painted. I am very confident the remaining paint on the truck is factory, as the rest of the truck still retains its single stage paint Ford was still using on some solid colors in 1994. Just the driver's fender is clearcoated. I purchased the truck from a farming family in Kentucky, just along the Virginia border. The truck has been in their family since 2000, with their Dad purchasing the truck from the original owner back in 2000. Since then, the truck has been mostly used on weekends and to make trips to Home Depot. In between, the truck was garaged. Please look at the photos and videos…I’ve photographed every panel close up for you to look at. The paint depth is so, so deep. Honestly, I had a hard time taking the photos because so many folks were honking and giving a thumbs up as they passed by! It looks like there’s a wet gel coat on the paint, it's that glossy. With that said, please remember that this pickup has just over 96,000 miles, so there are some nicks, scratches, touch-ups, and a few dings. But from only a few feet away, the truck looks like it's 1994 all over again. I could stare at the reflection in the hood all day long. It's also worth noting how nice the roof and drip rails are as well. Many times, these areas get pretty beat up over the years. The chrome and brightwork on this truck is super clean, and all the glass is Ford Carlite original (note some of the flaws in the windshield I point out in the photos and videos). Notice in the photos that the rubber door window trim shows a few cracks. These are reproduced if someone wanted to replace them. I chose to leave the bug shield on after removing it. The leading edge of the hood has some stone chips and I felt putting the bug shield back on would be the best choice. I also chose to install bed cap covers, which can be easily removed if chosen. There was a cap on the truck at one time, so the tops of the bed caps had some wear from the cap tape and I think the bed caps look sharp. I've tried to be incredibly detailed in the videos and photos to show every last inch of the truck, so please look things over so you can see some of the minor flaws I point out. But honestly, this truck looks spectacular, overall. Interior We’ll make the interior description short: It’s near mint and other than a little minor wear on the driver's side seat edge, it could pass as nearly new. Notice that there's just a little color loss on the passenger side of the dash as well. All the options work too, including the air conditioning, which is ice cold. |
Undercarriage
In 20+ years of owning ’92-’96 F150s and Broncos, I’ve been on a roll lately with finding a few trucks with beautiful undercarriages. This truck continues down that path and impresses everyone who sees it! Again, with preservation in mind, you won’t find my vehicles full of spray paint, undercoating, and other garbage to hide anything like so many people do when they sell vehicles. When an undercarriage looks like this, the goal is to preserve it…the factory decals, tags, paint dabs the plated metal, all of it. Check out the photos and videos and smile. Check out those floor boards! Yeah, they can still look this nice after 25 years.
After meticulously spending a day and a half wiping down the undercarriage, I used a trick used by my Dad back in the day: I filled a pump sprayer with a gallon of WD40 and soaked the hell of out the underside of the truck. It dripped for a day. If you plan to drive the truck more often, I would coat the undercarriage with a “stickier†product like Fluid Film. I love that stuff.
Mechanicals
My first instinct is to always preserve. But, there’s a balance between safety and preservation, so the decision was made to replace parts needed so the truck was reliable for daily use. This pickup has had regular maintenance over the years, but I thought a complete tune-up was a good idea.
For the tune-up, I used high quality OEM parts. The truck was treated to new spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, PCV valve, air filter, and the suspension was greased. The timing was also set. The oil was changed, the coolant completely flushed, and rear differential fluid and gasket replaced. The tires on the truck were about due for replacement, so new Goodyear Wrangler tires were also installed. The truck was also in need of rear brakes. I replaced the drums, shoes, hardware, both wheel cylinders, and the system was bled. The front brakes are not new, but appear to have decent pad left. The transmission fluid appears very fresh, and I did not change the fluid, as I suspect it was just done. The serpentine belt also looks very new, so it was not replaced. The battery shows from late 2018, so it has just been trickle charged. As you can see in the videos, the truck, starts, runs, shifts, and drives VERY, VERY well. I'm sincerely impressed with how quiet this truck rides. Please see the two test drive videos for other information.
Please be aware that the air bag light is showing a Code 12, for loss of voltage. I looked up some troubleshooting techniques for this code and it may be a blown fuse. I will check tomorrow morning and if that's the case, I will follow-up. But, please know, with the air bag light flashing, the air bag will not work. It does not affect the driveability of the truck, it just means the air bag won't open in an accident.
Also, please know that this truck drips a bit of oil that can be seen in one of the videos. I will investigate a bit to see if I can pinpoint the drip, but I want a buyer to be aware.
The Bottom Line
The truck starts right up and idles incredibly well. She runs, accelerates, and shifts like she should, and is QUIET. It doesn't pull and rides like you remember them back in the '90s. At this time, I am comfortable taking the truck for longer drives and have put about 75 miles on it since my purchase. As mentioned in the videos, I think a truck like this is the perfect kind to own: you're going to get a TON of compliments on it, but you don't have to be afraid to drive it. This would be a fantastic weekend truck, daily driver for the summer, or even an over the top presentable work truck if you choose. I am so excited to put this truck in the hands of a new caretaker. My hope is this ad has helped make you comfortable making a purchase sight-unseen, but if not, please message me and we can exchange phone numbers. I’m open to having the truck professionally inspected at my home. Please keep in touch with any questions you have about this one of a kind F150.
