Car description |
---|
This truck was built to tow large trailers in a wide variety of situations. It has a 6.9l diesel engine, 4 wheel drive, a four speed transmission that is really a three speed with a granny low; an aftermarket overdrive unit that really makes a difference on the highway (along with the cruise control); two outlets for trailer electrical hookup plus a lever to activate trailer brakes; Jake brake for the hills (yes, a 3/4 ton diesel pickup has a Jake brake);140 gallon aux. fuel tank makes for infrequent fuel stops. Hydraulic lift makes lifting heavy cargo into the truck easy. New tires. An adapter kit has been installed on the AC so that it uses modern coolant. An amazing 60,000 miles (It really was just used to tow trailers). I purchased this vehicle from the daughter of the original owner, a woman I have known for 20 years, thus I am confident of the story of the truck. If you look at the picture of the 4wd shift lever, just above the top of the lever you will see the switch for the auxiliary fuel tank.
Things that I know are wrong with the truck:
1.Turning on the left turn signal while driving in cruise control causes the cruise control to pop off.
2.The top of the cab needs to be sanded and painted.
3.At some time in the past, the right rear tire exploded, causing some damage to the sheet metal by the wheel well. That is why I have the two pictures.
Rust:The top of the cab needs attention. A small amount on the trim next to the windshield on the left side. A bit behind the right rear wheel. All in all, she is in pretty good shape for her age.
This is a heavy duty work horse.
The GVWR is 8600 lbs.
It gets a new windshield tomorrow, as one of the chips is too large.
