GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this 1940 Ford Convertible for your consideration. It is powered by a Flathead V8 which is mated to a 3-speed manual transmission. At the time it was deemed more luxurious to have a column-mounted shifter, so Ford relocated the shifter from the floor to the column to attract deep-pocketed customers.
The 1930s and '40s Fords are well known for their elegant lines and extravagant appearances. This example comes finished in a beautiful Burgundy paint over a beautiful leather interior. The tan soft top is in spectacular condition and can be lowered for pleasant top-down cruising. All chrome trim and accent pieces are in good condition as are the steel bumpers.
Ford Motor Company introduced its DeLuxe Ford line in 1938 as a more luxurious option to bridge the gap between its standard model and the luxury options offered through Lincoln. The "Deluxe" name was used occasionally before and after this to specify a higher level trim, but the DeLuxe Ford line was differentiated as a separate model within a model with separate styling and pricing through 1940. The convertible models that were made were always graced with the DeLuxe package and gave those who had the extra money for the enjoyment of a drop-top model the extra features standard. 1940 also marked the first time that Ford moved its 3-Speed manual shifter from the floor to the steering column as that became a more desirable feature to the market of this time. Now is the time for you to purchase your own classic Ford convertible. Please call or email with any questions or for additional information.
