1932 Ford Five Window Coupe. Original Model 18 V-8 car. All original Henry Ford Steel. Lovingly restored over a decade. The 32 was stored in a barn since the 60's. In the early 80's the 32 was purchased by the previous owner who put the 32 in long term storage and eventually did a full frame of nut and bolt restoration. All work was professionally done. All of the body panels are original to the car. The 32 was rust free before the restoration thanks to its long term storage out of the elements. I bought the 32 from the elderly gentleman who restored it. He unfortunately had to sell do to health reasons. I would say the 32 was about 95% done when I purchased it. The one thing that was not done was the interior. I enlisted help and advice from a couple old school hot rodders from back in the day, who gave me advice in how to restore the interior to the correct 50's era theme in which the car was all ready built/restored too. Over the next year the complete interior, and trunk was professionally reupholstered to show quality standards by one of the best shops in Washington. The car has a little over 500 miles on it since the restoration. The 32 has not seen rain and has been stored inside since the 60's. The 1932 Ford's are one of the most stunning and beautifully designed cars ever built by in my opinion. With a heavy heart I have regretfully decided to let this amazing car go to the next care taker. This particular example is a work of art, the quality of craftmanship on this build is exceptional. I have a clean and clear Washington title in hand.
MOTOR/TRANSMISISON- The motor is a 239 flat head out of a 1946-1948 Ford. All mechanical systems were completely rebuilt on the 32 including but not limited to the motor, transmission, rear end, carburetor, starter, and 6 volt generator. New clutch. The transmission and rear end are said to be original to the car. The stainless steel headers, custom built dual exhaust, and glass packs give the car an tough and unmistakable exhaust note. New gas tank. I use non ethanol fuel only. The 32 is unbelievably reliable and will instantly fire right up even after months of storage. The flat head runs like a clock, the transmission shift like new.
PAINT/BODY- Roll down rear window and flip up front window. As previously mentioned, the 32 has received a frame off nut and bolt restoration. The 32 is 100% rust free. All original Henry steel body and fenders. No patch panels. The body has not been chopped or modified in any way. The body, frame, suspension components, and under side of the 32 were completely stripped of all paint to bare metal. The 32 was then painted "Black Cherry Metallic". The paint/color are stunning! In darker lighting/shade the paint appears to be black, however in the sun light the paint comes alive and has a purplish, red hew. The cherry colored metal flake makes the paint dance and sparkle in the sun shine. Some upgrades include slightly tinted side and back windows, new fold up safari type front window, and head light drop bar. The under side/under carriage are spotless and is detailed to show quality standards.
BRAKES/SUSPENSION- For safety the entire brake system has been completely updated to a hydraulic system with dual circuit master cylinder and stainless steel brake lines. For both safety and drivability, the old 1932 steering system was updated to a modern rack and pinion steering system. All suspension rubber and bushings were replaces during the restoration. New front shocks. the 32 was slightly lowered with a drop front axle was for a hot rod rake and stance. Factory four link mono leaf rear suspension.
INTERIOR- The interior design was done in what would have been popular in the 50's. The interior took almost a year to complete by a local upholstery shop who does amazing work. I told them there was no rush, so they took there time and did it right. The interior is a creamy off white that I matched off of the color of the white wall tires. The carpet is an old style black/grey peppered wool material. Gorgeous one piece headliner. The original seat springs were replaced in favor of more modern and comfortable seat foam that was custom shaped. The seat is extremely comfortable. Extra attention was taken to the contour and lumbar support of the seat. The seat height was lowered as well as moved back to accommodate taller drivers comfortably. There is additional hidden storage under the front seat as well as easy access to the battery and master cylinder. The original vacuum powered window motor was reinstalled. New reproduction visor frames, rear view mirror, door handles, window crank handles, dome light, shifter, and emergency brake handle were installed. The dash panel and interior window frames were painted the body color and compilates the carpet, chrome, and upholstery color perfectly. All electrical, lights, horn, ect, work properly. I did not want to drill into the door so I installed a old school side mirror which clamps on the door frame with out damaging the paint. A old school steering wheel was installed with a quick discount hub for security. The trunk was reupholstered to the same style as the cabin. It was decided not to install a partition panel in favor of additional storage space.
OTHER NOTABLES- Reproduction BFG Silver Town 6.00-16 front tires and Firestone Champion 8.20-15 rear tires. The tires and wheels are offset sizes for a hot rod look. Old school Kelsey Hayes wire wheels.
