RARE OPPORTUNITY!!!!!!!
1967 Mustang Hardtop with 25,000 ORIGINAL MILES!!!!!
This 1967 Mustang was purchased NEW at Robinson and Lyon Ford in Seattle by a school teacher named SALLY!
Sally drove this Mustang back and forth to work until she retired sometime in the 1980's. "Work" was a school 2 miles away! Sally only clocked around 20,000 miles before she retired. Adding about 5,000 more miles before she stopped driving the Mustang altogether.
I received a call from a friend that the couple wanted to sell their Mustang. It took about 6 months to buy the car and I paid them a very fair price. My intention was to preserve the car as much as possible and take it around to local car shows. I now have to be honest with myself... I have TOO MANY PROJECTS. This Mustang has sat in my shop for about 4 years now.
Overall condition is VERY good for 50+ years old. These old Mustang's RUST. Very little rust protection was applied by the factory.
I carefully inspected the car and only found a few areas of concern: There is some rot under the battery tray (see photo), a few pinholes under the trim around the back window, and a hole in the driver's wheelwell about the size of a quarter (down inside the trunk, where the wheel arch meets the lower 1/4 panel). I also found a few pinholes in the floor, and the typical spot on the bottom front edge of the doors...
The factory paint is really decent on all except the driver's side (that was exposed to the sun in the car port). I polished to top of the passenger fender and the paint came back 90%! Totally up to you if you want to spot in paint or do a complete respray (or keep the "Patina" look). You will also notice that "Sally" backed into a pole at some point. I have a used bumper that matches the "Patina", and you will need to pull the dents.
Interior is 8/10. The seats are almost perfect! No rips, no holes and upholstery is soft and not really faded or damaged! Back seat had a crate with some teacher supplies on it (you can see the indent), but over time it has faded. Carpet is faded and dirty, but is original. Headliner is decent and could be cleaned. Overall.. just the steering wheel shows sun damage and could use replacement.
I did get the Mustang running (off a gas can). Fired right up and ran well! The original owners husband had the car serviced at a local gas station since new (some invoices included)! The car will need BRAKES (pedal goes to the floor), and you might want to rebuild the factory original stuff. I did install brand new tires in the correct for 1967 size (with white walls).
I have EVERY registration from new, original bill of sale and LOTS of paperwork.
Restore this beauty or PRESERVE as I intended!
