Car description |
---|
This is a great old truck and the first model of te F-Series trucks on the road still today.
I have kept this truck in a garage for 15 years. I purchased it from an older doctor who was the original owner in Ashland (I think) Tennessee. He kept it in a barn. I have some pics of it in the barn. I didn't keep the Hornets nests.
BODY. The body is solid - no rust no damage for its age. All original metal - no after market fiberglass panels. a couple small scratches and nicks. The paint job was done in the 1980's. The truck bed and rails are custom wood. Sapele, an African exotic wood. Matching grain patterns and the wood really sparkle in the sun (seriously) . The running boards were replaced. I took them off of an identical Ford F1. The only real flaw in body is that it had a ford fairlane hood ornament. Looked like a unicorn. Got rid if the ornament but the screw hole are still there. It is part of the story of the truck.
INTERIOR. Is in great shape. The original controls were refurbished and painted to look like new. Screws all replaced. Glovebox, floor mats sun-visors all updated. New Old Stock 1950 after-market turn signal kit added. 1950 Ford truck horn added. Sound quieting material added under floor mats.
ELECTRICAL.Rewired using an updated harness with fuses and moved to 12 volts for starting and reliability. Has cool blue-dot rear light and 1950’s after-market turn-signal kit. Wasn’t standard back in the day. We bought an old side spot-light to install in the truck. Will include.
DRIVETRAIN.Correct flat-head six motor and three-speed manual transmission. The motor work and the trans is in good shape. It is a running truck. Clutch and steering worm replaced and refurbished.
EXTRAS
Lot's of extras collected and transferring with truck. We clipped a Ford ad from 1950 listing all the possible extras available with the truck and went on a mission to find them. We found the correct tube radio for the truck (working), two period correct Ford fire extinguishers (good luck eve finding one), spotlight for reading house numbers, New Old Stock turn signal kit and so on. We also added a coolSuicide Knob (steering knob) taken from a junked 1951 Ford truck in a junk yard. NOS key cut as well as an original 1950’s dealership pocketknife with knife and key that unfolds. The key matches the ignition and is on an original key chain. Note: The lights work but the switch is broken. The pole pulls out (its 75 years old). Has an old Smokey the Bear cigarette ashtray. Really there are a tin of extras not listed. This truck was loved. We will put together a list for the new owner.OVERALL CONDITION.
It runs like an old truck. You feel the bumps and sounds. If you want something that rides like a Honda this isn't it.
