This low mile, all original, 1988 Ford Mustang GT Convertible is for sale from a private collection. It was purchased new on Nov 21st 1987 at Bud Brady Ford, Cleveland, OH. This Black Beauty came attractively dressed in Black exterior with Scarlet Red interior and black convertible top. The car is powered by the legendary 5.0 liter EFI High Output V8 engine hooked to the desirable 5 speed manual transmission and applied by its Traction-Lock rear axle. Standard performance equipment includes: Power Rack-and-Pinion Steering, Handling Package which includes: variable rate springs, gas pressurized struts and shocks, and "Quadra Shock" rear suspension. Also standard are power front disc brakes, 15 inch wheels cast aluminum wheels and tires, power convertible top, aero halogen headlamps, air dam with integrated fog lamps, tinted glass, tilt steering wheel, full instrumentation including: 7000 RPM tachometer, temp gauge, voltmeter, oil pressure gauge and trip odometer.

Optional equipment with this Mustang includes: air conditioning, power windows, power locks, automatic speed control, Articulated Sport Seats, premium sound system.

This black legend remains in excellent original condition in all areas. The car has always been kept inside and as a result, the original paint remains wonderful original condition, the original seats are like new and the red carpeting remains very clean and fresh.

Mechanically, this ‘88 GT runs like new! The deep familiar sound of the 5.0 liter will roar as you climb the gears. The transmission shifts crisp and precisely; and the clutch and shifter is tight! It has a set of NOS Pony Wheels with new Kumho tires, with only 2000 miles on them. The original aluminum Turbine wheels and Goodyear Gatorback tires are also included with only 22k miles on them and still in good condition.

The interior is all original and like it just came off the showroom floor. Every rubber seal is intact and supple as day one. Because it was always stored inside in a northern climate, there is no sunfade or plastic cracking or wear whatsoever. The original radio and tape deck plays smoothly and perfectly. Overall, the car is near Mint condition. Every piece of glass is perfectly clear, no chips or scratches. The original Black vinyl top and red parade boot are also show quality condition and seal perfectly as you would expect. The A/C is the original R-12 freon and blows cold and hard. You’ll be impressed with the beauty, level of preservation and quality of ride.

If I were to keep it, there would be a few items I would address. 1. The heater core needs to be replaced. Not a problem for me as it is currently bypassed and I don’t drive it in the winter anyway. 2. The two back window motors are going out. Very common with the factory window motors. 3. Two small paint imperfections on the rear trunk lid.

No dents or chips anywhere. It stops perfectly, does not overheat, does not smoke. NO vibrations or noises. Plenty of power, starts right away, runs like a swiss watch and idles smooth. There is no way to describe what a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the top down on a beautiful day.

Mustang interiors from this era are not known to wear well, and the excellent condition of this interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this car has received thru its life, even the ashtray lid still functions as it should! All accessories, lights, switches,cruise control work like they should. Power Convertible top goes up and down very smoothly. The headlights are original and have no cracks or chips. Fog lights also work great. It has the ‘Marti Report’ and all original manuals, etc. It’s hard to find a Black Beauty original Survivor like this. It’s only original once…
