1968 Ford Bronco - V8 - 289 - Uncut - Clean Title - Very Original!
LOW RESERVE!!!!!!
**Click on image below for a video of Start up of the 1968 Bronco**
This Bronco was bought in Pasadena, California on 3/12/1968. I purchased it from the 2nd owner. It has a Clean & Clear Title that matches the Vin on the Bronco. It is equipped with the original 289 V8 engine. It is an original Lunar Green with Wimbeldon White Topped Bronco. It has the original 3 speed on the column manual transmission. The Bronco fires up on the first turn of the key! It has most - if not all - of its original components. It was ordered with a Swing away Tire Carrier that was called a "Ranch Hand". It allows you to mount the tire on the tailgate or on the passenger side quarter panel. Very unique and rare option! It was also ordered with dual steering shock absorbers!
- The 289 engine runs strong and sounds nice! Does not smoke or make any strange noises. It has been updated with a few items recently to keep it going down the road. The original 2v Carburetor has been rebuilt, the Distributor has been rebuilt with all new electrical components, new mechanical fuel pump, many new gaskets, the belts have been replaced, all new fluids throughout, all new filters have been added (fuel, air & oil) and much more! The oil pressure gauge shows a healthy 60 psi while it is running! The exhaust sounds great & it has been updated as well and is fully complete with a new muffler. The engine has no leaks at all except a small leak that seems to be coming from the oil pan. Will only leak when it gets warm. Does not leak a lot - just leaves a small drop of oil after it has been driven. Nothing concerning - very common for these 50+ year old vehicle.
- It is equipped with aftermarket Oil Pressure gauge and also a Temperature gauge that keep an eye on the vitals! Both work great!
- The brakes have been completely re-worked. The Master Cylinder was replaced along with all wheel cylinders. The Steel brake lines were replaced with factory Pre-Bent steel lines. All the Steel lines were 100% replaced. The brakes work as good as the should and have no concerns! The Bronco stops straight!
- It is equipped with Dual Fuel Tanks. Both tanks work as they should! All rubber hoses & lines were replaced on the tanks and the original selector valve in the cab works perfectly to switch between the 2 tanks. The rear tank still has the original skid plate installed. It does not seem that the fuel gauge is working. I just make sure the auxiliary tank is always full and never had any issues.
- All (5) wheels and tires are in excellent shape! It has original steel wheels along with Goodyear Wrangler tires. The spare tire is also in excellent shape. These tire have about 50 miles on them. They have been professionally mounted & Balanced to provide a smooth ride.
- All 4 shock absorbers have been replaced. The main steering stabilizer has also been replaced. All 5 absorbers have been professionally painted Wimbeldon White to match the Grill, wheels and top of the Bronco. Looks very nice!
- Heater works like it should! The fan blows hot air out and has 2 settings. All electrical and mechanical components of the hearter work great!
- The dash is complete and is missing nothing. The factory Cigarette lighter is still there and works as it should! Dash has never been repainted - factory paint!
-Glass is in good shape and is complete. All windows go up & down, No issues or concerns.
- The alternator and battery were replaced and the Alternator does a great job at charging right around 14.5 amps. The Voltage Regulator & Starter Solenoid have also been replaced to ensure no issues while enjoying the Bronco.
- The cooling system works perfectly! The radiator was replaced with an Aluminum Radiator and all new hoses were installed. The temperature gauge shows it is all working perfectly! No leaks or concerns anywhere! The Heater Core also works as it should with no concerns. When you turn the heater on in the cab - hot air comes out as it should! No leaks or issues.
- The transmission shifts smoothly and has no play at all! The OEM shifter on the column has no slop in it and it is easy to find all the gears in it! Typically these "3 on the tree" shifters are very sloppy or have been removed and moved to the floor. Not this one!
- The clutch feels nice on this one but does have some "chatter" when starting out in 1st gear. It has some build up in the flywheel and this creates the "chatter". If you drive it a bunch - it gets better. Can drive it as is - just have to feather the clutch in 1st gear so it does not chatter. Nothin major - just something to be aware of.
- 4 Wheel Drive works great! All the front lock-out hubs have been gone thru and re-greased. No issues or concerns.
- All the headlights, taillights, turn signals, flashers, license plate light and interior dome lights work! The Bronco was ordered with and interior Courtesy Map Light - it works perfectly!
- Paint on the Bronco is in good condition. The body has been painted a minimum of once in its life. It came originally as Lunar Green and it is pretty much exactly the same color. It is not perfect! It is a "Driver" paint job that looks very nice until you start looking close and you can see some issues. It looks respectable enough to go to a car show with - you just wont win a car show with it! Does have nicks, scratches and wearing on the paint that you can see in the pictures. Only 818 Broncos were ordered with this Paint/Trim Codes in 1968!
- Hard top is in nice condition and can be removed if wanted.
- The 1968 Broncos are the last year Broncos that allow you to unbolt the Driver and Passenger Door window frames to give it a sleek and clean look when you have the top removed! After 1968 - they welded the frames in!
- The front windshield can fold down and lock to the hood if you wanted! This was a factory option and all the original hardware is still installed on this Bronco.
- Body is in good condition. It is not perfect and is showing its age in some areas. Rockers and quarter panels have had attention and these look to be in very nice shape. The bottom of tailgate has some corrosion on it (seen in pic). The top of the Drivers fender also has rust that is showing thru. It is 100% cosmetic and does not effect anything on the Bronco. The Door Hinge Pillars on the Bronco are in good shape and seem very solid. The Striker posts on the Bronco has rust in the typical spots but it does not affect anything. Doors open & Close great! No sagging at all! The passenger door needs the Pin replaced on the lower hinge. It does not need an entire hinge - just the pin. This will align the door better (as seen in pic). The floors have been patched over the years and seem solid but they do have some patch work done in the Front Driver & passenger side. Can be driven like it is with no issues!
- Frame is in good shape. No bends, kinks or issues. It was coated with undercoating sometime in its life. This helped protect a lot of the frame and undercarriage but is now starting to flake off in areas. Can be left as is - not an issue.
- Interior is in excellent condition! Seats are in very nice shape with no concerns. Is equipped with a Headliner, rear quarter panels and carpet. All of these items are in great condition! It does have a roll bar - it is just bolted in and is not welded in. More of a cosmetic roll bar than anything....
This Bronco would suit someone very well if they are looking for a respectable original looking Bronco that they could drive and enjoy. You can stick more money into it or you can just use it as is and have fun with it!
