1985 SVO Mustang.
In good/great mechanical shape, almost no rust - a small spot in the passenger rear fender. My son has been driving this to and from school (3-4 miles each way) for a couple of years now. We had to replace the entire fuel system as it sat for 10+ years before we bought it. New fuel tank, new fuel pump, new injectors - aftermarketand EXPENSIVE, etc. The turbo seals started leaking about a year ago - installed a new/rebuilt turbo. It runs great/very strong. We had to go through the brakes as well - the rears were locked up. New master cylinder, new rotors, new calipers and I think we did the rubber lines too ... can't remember.
My son completely gutted the interior and cleaned it. New headliner. He also repainted all the interior surfaces - it quite frankly looks better then new. We replaced all of the door seals, sunroof seal, etc. Fixed/replaced the fuel door latch button in the glove box and repairedthe rear hatch release mechanism in the hatch. Changed out the hatch cylinders. Changed the alternator. We haven't messed with the A/C unit but assume it's OK - it's all there. Also installed two good OEM tail light lenses - both were cracked. The rear spoiler is OK ... not great but OK. We do have the rear hatch roll out cover. The tires are about two years old ... maybe 5000 miles on them.
I'd feel comfortablejumping in this car and driving it coast to coast ... it's now 100% reliable. I think it will eventually need a new throw out bearing as the the throw out bearing squeaks now and then.
The paint is not good ... is bad. The car was previously owned by a body shop guy before us. Typical body shop situation ... his car got worked on last. It has the original black paint on it, then he painted it red then back to black like two weeks later. His wife said he hated the red and repainted it two weeks later!? Anyway the paint is at least 1/8" thick or better. The rear bumper cover is broken/torn.
I/we won't take less than $4500 for it ... I have over $7000 into it. It can sit in my shop indefinitely ... he may take interest in it again after college. Right now he's into the mint 2003 EVO, VERY low mileage, we bought. That car is a beast!
