Car description |

Like theoriginal Bullitt car, this is a true "S" code mustang fastback. Notonly this car is theclosestit gets to the real Bullitt car, but it's a greatinvestmentbecause "S" code mustang are very sought after.
This is not a numbers matching car. If it were, theprice would be significantly more. Instead this is a right erablock, meaningthe block is from the sameperiod. The block is only oneyear apart frominitial built date, which makes it a correctyear for Bullitt Mustang. It'sdifficultenough asisto find a matching block, but finding matching heads is another challenge.Especially identical heads with matching dates on left and on the right head. Both heads are dated8AE (1968)and theblock is dated:8D17, (1968). Being only a year apart,it'sthe closest it gets to a numbersmatching. What makes this car evenmore special is the block is a passager version of a 390 FE and not a truck one. Back in 1960's there were two version of the 390 FE block. All Mustang, Fairlane, andGalaxy camewith a passager 390 FE block. All trucks were 390 FE truck version. The market is filled with truck 390 FE blocks, which makes them inexpensive. On the other hand, there are very few passager version of the 390 FE left, which brings the value up and be prepared to pay around $7,000 to $12,000 depending on condition. The difference in the twoversion of the blocks is not only the value but stroke. Many car builders cut cost by installing a truck version of the 390 FE in fastbacks. Customers who buy those cars think that they are getting a true "s" code but instead they are notbecause those cars don't live up to what they are mettobeing the wrong version 390.This car comes with the correct 390 FE block, that has the right stroke in standard bore cylinder as the day it came out of the thefactory. This is the reason why this car is a true "s" code and stands out from all the rest of the fastbacks.Which makes it not only a greatinvestment and gives you a chance to own a piece of history.
The body was a fullrotisserierestored. The floor panel were replaced with one piece panel like it came from thefactory and not in small sections like most restoration are. Bothquarterpanels were removed and replaced with the 1968style ones were installed. Notonly to match perfectly with the Bullitt car but to match the 390 FEblock. The paint was a PPG Highland Green with Metallic and high solid clear coat was covered six times giving enough room to keep the car shining. The car is rust free and over650 labor hours spent on the body in order to make it look this good.
