Car description

This 1968 Ford Mustang Sprint is one of those rare pieces that seems to have escaped the notice of collectors, but that's changing. For those of you not familiar with the Sprint, it was a spring-time promotional package that was largely reserved for the six-cylinder, but in 1968, Package B of the "See the Light Sale" promotion featured a V8 model. Just over 15k V8 Sprint models were made in 1968, and their rarity and killer good looks are certainly worthy of A-list status in the Mustang world today. This beautiful example of the iconic pony features a recently rebuilt 289 V8, a timeless color combination, and great options like A/C and power steering.
The Package B Sprints were essentially GTs, but without the added cost of a mandatory factory 4-barrel engine and heavy-duty suspension. And the look was an absolute hit, with the C-stripes, the wheel lip moldings, grille-mounted fog lights, and Styled Steel wheels that were all part of the package. This particular Sprint has the right look that whispers, "collector car," complete with Lime Gold paint and black C-stripes along its flanks, and the subtle dual scoops on the hood. The repaint was done to a high level and there are only a few minor imperfections to speak of today, but the finish is still deep and shiny, ensuring that the car turns heads everywhere it goes. You should be prepared to explain the car more thoroughly to the people who aren't quite sure what they're looking at, but everyone seems to agree that this is a very special Mustang. Correct emblems are visible on the front quarters, there's a correct pop-off gas cap out back, and all of the chrome and brightwork is great shape and provides a nice contrast up against the light green paint.
Despite the vehicle's pedigree, the interior is pretty much the same as other Mustang coupes, but that's always a good thing, since in 1968 Ford was hitting on all eight cylinders in the design department. Personally, I really like the combination of green bodywork and gold buckets ("green is for the money, gold is for the honey"), which gives the car a very upscale air, and the sporty theme continues throughout the interior. The wood-rimmed steering wheel is an optional piece that adds a luxurious flavor to the Mustang (they were most often seen in the Cougars). The original dealer took it easy on options, but it now includes cold A/C via an aftermarket Vintage Air unit, along with a Retro Sound AM/FM/AUX stereo inside the original slot inside the dash, making this car easy to drive regularly. The gauges appear to be original and in excellent condition, the shifter for the automatic transmission is an easy reach for the driver, and the beautiful door panels and plush carpets finish off the comfortable and stylish interior. Open that deck lid and you'll find a standard coupe trunk, albeit with no issues hiding under the original plaid mat, and a full-size spare tire.
The engine is a C-code 289 V8 with a 2-barrel carburetor that was rebuilt approximately 2k miles ago, and in the lightweight coupe, it's a great performer. Open the hood and you'll find a nicely detailed engine bay that's been properly maintained and shows off its original air cleaner (replete with correct Sprint decals) and correct " Ford" valve covers that match the Ford Blue enamel on the block. Other than the R134a A/C, power steering is the lone option, but it does a great job of maneuvering this Pony in and out of the corners. It runs extremely well and makes great torque, and the 3-speed automatic transmission was rebuilt approximately 1k miles ago and shifts unobtrusively. Underneath the pans are original and very solid, proof of an easy life lived in Texas, and there's new rubber and shocks throughout. The dual exhaust system is fairly recent as well, and those Flowmaster performance mufflers sound fantastic. Styled Steel wheels were original equipment on Package B Sprints in 1968 and they wear 205/70/14 BFGoodrich white letter radials at each corner to finish the look.
A relatively rare footnote in Mustang history, the 1968 Mustang Sprint Package B is one of those cars that few will recognize, but everyone will understand is something unique. They won't be this affordable for much longer, so call today!
