Up for auction is a true76K original miles, matching numbers J code 4 speed deluxe car that was special ordered. There were only 2,800 1968 J code 4 speeds to begin with not considering all the options on this car. Some of those include:Factory air (have all the parts)Deluxe interior with upper and lower consoles.3:00:1 ratio rear endShoulder strap anchorsFront disc brakes were added later to give more stopping power.
This car was a one owner car until 2000 when the owner passed away and the car went to a distant cousin who owned it until 2011. The car was a West coast car and was in California until 2014 when I purchased it.
I purchased this car to spend time with my son and introduce him to classic cars. He is leaving for Air Force flight school and it's time to allow someone else to enjoy this classic.
I have lots of receipts and paperwork some of which supports the low mileage. I can provide some pics the VINs stamped into the block, transmission case, frame, dash.. This car is rust free and looks like all the panels are original with only small section of sheet metal replacement done in the engine compartment years ago (I'm repeating what the previous owner told me, but I could not locate it) . I believe it has only had one repaint and it is currently in matte black right now.
I know what I have and if you are into these cars you do to. To have this car with the paperwork and such is truly rare.
Before I purchased the car in 2014 there were some really nice updates:The entire front suspension was rebuilt with grab a trak from mustang plus. An MSD ignition was added, long tub headers, and full flowmaster exhaust.
Since 2014 the following has been added:All seat upholstery and foam replacedCenter console replaced with original OEM (great condition – this alone would go for $800 to$1200 on Ebay)Front grill replaced and OEM GT fog lights addedOEM GT gas cap addedInside door panels replacedDoor handle pulls replacedArmrests replaced with OEM like newInside door metal stripped and paintedMetal dash stripped and paintedDash bezel, glass, and surround all replacedClock replaced with RCCI mini tach (have original clock)GT style steering wheel (still have original deluxe wheel to include)New map bezel light inserts (both map lights work)Replaced passenger side OEM Vent window glass, bracket, and gasketNew Driver side vent window gasketNew driver and passenger side main window rubber gasketsReplaced door sills with original OEM versionsAdded radio bracketNew front kick panelsall four window cranks operational with new handlesreplaced headlight dimmer switchOriginal OEM style mustang rubber floor matsReplaced inside of glove box with OEM boxBrand new Edelbrock carburetor with electric chokeEngine cleaned, painted and new gaskets (oil, manifold, headers, valve, waterpump)Top and bottom radiator hoses replacedRadiator cleaned and paintedEngine compartment cleaned and paintedAll engine pulleys and brackets sandblasted and powder coatedNew ClutchNew battery cablesNew fuel pumpTransmission cleaned and painted (new fluid, gaskets, seals)Replaced transmission mountNew top and bottom shifter bootNew radiator fan shroudReplaced the in-hood blinker grills and bulbs, both workNew gas tank and new hose and connection to gas lidInside trunk cleaned and paintedReplaced trunk lid and gasketNew taillight gasketsOEM trim installed around rear lightsRear bumper hardware replacedHave GT side emblems and original pony emblemsHave Mustang letters for trunk lidReplaced front brake rotors, calipers, hoses, and padsReplaced rear brake drums, hardware, cylinders, and shoesNew front wheel bearings4 new Cooper Radial GTS
