A great example of a well kept truck that was never abused. 68,940 original miles, and plenty of life left for generations to come. It's very difficult to find a clean unmolested Bronco that isn't rotted out, or a hodgepodge of miscellaneous parts and accessories that someone has pieced together. This was originally in the high and dry plains of Colorado, and then found its way to an avid bronco collector in Illinois, where it was pampered and brought outside for Sunday drives the last few summers. She is now located in Southern CA, and being stored in a climate controlled garage.
Most of the paint is original. Somewhere along her journey the hood was resprayed, and the top panel of the hard top was also repainted. The patina is wonderful. She has a few bumps and bruises but nothing major, and nothing worth doing any body work to. It's great to enjoy driving it and not have to worry about every potential environmental threat. All of the trim is original. Highly appointed options like the chrome surround on the windshield and the hard top give her some class as part of the Ranger package. Dual gas tanks with original painted gas caps.
The interior is spectacular. The front seats were recovered professionally using 100% period correct fabrics. This is not a wonky shade tree job, the seats are showroom quality. The premium German square weave carpet was installed properly and the interior really shows like new. The door cards and rear quarter cards are original, and are in about as good of shape as I have seen. The retractable seat belts are original and in good working order. The headliner was replaced and the original map light works. The dash is straight and the gauges are nice and clear. None of the notorious ford fog to report. Very cool original interior that takes you back in time.
The power plant is the time tested 302 with a few upgrades. Aluminum Edelbrock intake, 4 barrel Holley Carb, Mallory distributor and coil, new wires and plugs. She fires right up and runs crisp and clean. No smoke no hesitation no stalling. Smooth column shifting C4 automatic mated to Dana 20 transfer case. Silky smooth power steering makes driving effortless, mandatory for maneuvering at low speeds. 5 original wheels and hub caps in excellent condition. She rides quite nice but will be due for some new bushings before any cross country road trips. Drum brakes on all four corners, easily upgraded with an aftermarket kit from many different suppliers, but these work fine for the beach driving here.
The floors are solid. Rockers and all pans in excellent original condition. The bronco was clearly put away dry, and never saw salty roads or harsh conditions. Very rare to see floors this nice.
All in all she's a great original driver. Being a 46 year old bronco she is not perfect. I have done my best to describe the vehicle. Local inspections are encouraged!
