This is a rare find, fun 80's throwback pickup! This 87 ranger has been fully gone over and is a solid FL vehicle. I'm an auto body professional and work in high end restoration. When I drive it around town waves and thumbs up are common. This truck was built as a gift for my father but declining health is pushing us to sell it. Since there really isn't a collectors market for these I'm testing the waters to see what it might be worth, price reflects what I have in it labor and materials wise. Feel free to ask questions and make offers.
THE BODY:
The body was taken down to bare metal for the majority. It was epoxy sealed and high build primed and fully blocked out. Bed was taken off the frame. There's very little "bondo" on the body as it was in great shape to start, just peeling paint (pictures of restoration process are available upon request). The common cowl water leak was fixed and drip rails were stripped and seam sealed. Body is sprayed Ford code alpine green metallic -base/clear. There's plenty of clear on the truck to wetsand and buff out if you want a nicer finish. The aluminum wheels were prepped and clear coated with a little silver mixed in to freshen them up. The tan center caps and XLT badge are painted to match the camper shell for a nice overall 80's theme. The clown emblems on the center caps were my own personal touch for fun. The camper shell window trim, front grill inserts, door handles, mirror bases and ranger emblem bases were painted satin black. Same goes for the interior handles and window cranks. The arm rests and top half of dashboard were dyed black and a black carpet pad was added ontop. A pioneer cd/usb/radio head unit is installed as well as 3.5" infinity 2 way speakers in the dash. The cloth 60/40 split seats were removed and shampooed while floor was stripped and sprayed with truck bed liner. The side marker, front running and tail lights have been tinted with smoked clear. Door windows have vent shades installed.
MECHANICAL:
This truck runs and drives great for being 32 years old. I didn't go overboard on this part of the restoration as I spent so much time making it look nice. The undercarriage is solid and clean with just a little surface rust (see pics). New brake calipers and pads are in front, drums adjusted in rear. Rear suspension has a leaf added to jack it up a little. Bushings/ balljoints were greased and pinholes in exhaust ere welded. All the AC lines and dryer are new and system has been convereted to 134A Freon and blows COLD! The battery is also fairly new. This truck is the first year for fuel injection so no need to mess with a finicky carburetor, starts right up d the 2.9liter straight six has some good pep and intake has a nice sound. Spark plugs have less than 1k miles on them and royal purple is in the diff. 5 speed manual shifts smooth. Tires have lots of tread left and no leaks. New wiper blades, rear view mirror and gas lift struts for camper hatch were just added.
THE BAD:
Minor for the most part. There's a paint bubble by wipers, a paint chip at bottom of driver door that I touched up. Theres a tiny dent in front of driver fender. Pass side front aluminum wheel trim has some damage (last 3 pictures). Windshield trim is painted black because it was all beat up and there are a few clips missing.
