Car description

1965 Ford Mustang Coupe

The 1965 Mustang set an all-time record for first-year sales of any new model. Today's auto market is too fragmented with different types of cars for a single model to ever get the wildly enthusiastic reception of the first Ford Mustang in America. The top-selling car in 2008 was the Toyota Camry, which found 436,616 buyers, in 1965 Ford sold 607,500 Mustangs. Ever since its arrival, the Mustang has been a highly visible part of the American auto scene. Owners have included everyone from former President Bill Clinton and baseball star Reggie Jackson to Hollywood celebrities Jay Leno and Cher. Most likely, you've either owned a Mustang, or knew someone who did.

For consignment a resprayed in red restored 1965 example of the original Generation 1 Mustang. With a red interior and white vinyl covered hardtop, this car, with its new jacket is a stunner!

Exterior
With all rust removed, steel was smoothed and carefully sanded then give a coat of Red. The paint is overall good, with some inclusions of dirt and a few minutely small "fisheyes". The white vinyl top is unmarred and an overall clean surface. Plenty of chrome is attached at the bumpers, quarter panel insert, rocker trim, doors and mirrors, and around lighting and windows. Badging is correct, and exterior is looking sharp! Don't forget the original polished Mustang wheels and wheel covers, wrapped in skinny whites.

Interior
Save for the aftermarket stereo, the interior is looking much like original with vinyl seats nearly perfect. Dash is clean, and full metal jacket, original steering wheel is fronting it, and the chrome on it, is slightly corroded and not perfect. Door panels are as pristine as the seating, and the plastic center console houses the automatic gear selector and shows a hole in it at the driver's side seat bolster area. Aluminum and black trim molding runs down the center of the console and presents as patina. Rubber floor mats cover a nicely preserved/restored? deep red carpet.

Drivetrain
An original(?) appearing 289ci V8 sits in an unrestored engine bay. There is documentation of recent repair work that has been performed on the car. This 289 is fed by a 2-barrel carburetor, and has a C4 3-speed automatic transmission, and an 8" 2.80 gear rear.

Undercarriage
Appearing mostly original, with patina and surface rust, the frame is solid, and has undergone repair work. Also, there is invasive rust at the back of the floor pan on the driver's side, and lower body panel rockers are rusted. It appears as though a newer front suspension was recently put on, as well as a rack and pinion steering system. Drum brakes are all around.

A good example of a 1965 Ford Mustang, the original model, with some restoration work, and maintenance performed. A bit of invasive rust, and surface rust is seen underneath on the rockers and floorpans. Mechanically sound it starts quickly and drives smoothly.
