1931 Ford Model A Coupe
In the late 1920s and early 1930s, the Ford Model A was one of the most publicized and best-selling cars in America. It was sporty, attractive, well-built, and smooth-running compared to the Model T, which it replaced in the 1928 model year.
This beautifully restored 1931 Ford Model A Coupe literally could be bought and used as a daily driver. Close attention has been paid to the exterior as well as the mechanicals on this car, and it truly is useable on a regular basis. Some interesting features have been added on, so please read on.
Exterior
Andalusite Blue body with black fenders, running boards and top would have looked like it did on the showroom floor. As are all Model A's the fenders and splash aprons are painted black. Straw (yellow) spoked wheels are on all four corners, including an additional spare tire with a fabric tire cover attached to the rear. A rear rumble seat in black vinyl is seen, and a great place to put the mother in law! A single tail light, and flying goose sits atop a large radiator that is fronted by the stone guard of interwoven chrome. Flanking on both sides are large headlights with a visor, and a black horn. Running board step plates, and etched wind wings will finish off the exterior of this car.
Interior
A comfortable brown and tan tweed grabs you into the single bench seat and allows for the driver and passenger the sit close and spoon while driving option (not recommended!) A black dash with Ford chromed "mask style" instrument cluster sitting in the center is fronted by an original black steering wheel. Textured rubber flooring is noted and in very good condition. Door panels are covered in mohair tan with stitched in pouches for storage. The headliner and "B" pillar coverings are tan mohair too. A floor shifter, and handbrake are present.
Drivetrain
A 200ci 4-cylinder single carb engine produces 40hp and is connected to a 3-speed manual transmission.
Undercarriage
Underside viewing of this car shows minute areas that have surface rusting, otherwise floor pans, underside of running boards and bottom door sills are rust free. 4-wheel drum brakes are noted as are mono leaf suspension setups in front and rear.
Harken back to 1931 and pretend you had some extra money to spend, needed an automobile that has the capability of driving it year-round. The Ford Coupe would cost you a little more, but it would fit the bill. Beautiful exterior color combination takes you back to a time when you thought everything in the auto world was painted black...well almost!
