Up for auction is a 1965 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback still wearing much of its factory, original paint. I'm selling it for a friend, who is the 3rd owner of the car. 1st owner had the car from new until 1989, 2nd owner from '89 to 2019. It was purchased with intentions to restore/build, but too many other project cars have gotten in the way, and time is just limited.

The vehicle is very mechanically sound. It runs, drives, and stops very well for being a basically unmolested 54 year old car! You could probably drive it anywhere if you want to take it home that way. The engine is a 200c.i. straight-six cylinder with an automatic transmission. The transmission was rebuilt less than 500 miles ago. New spark-plugs, alternator, belts, hoses, master-cylinder, brake-pads and stainless-steel brake-lines were all recently installed as well. It also has a new battery, new gas-tank and new tires.

The car is not really all that rusty, but does have some areas as you can see. Consequently, the front fenders were replaced with new ones, and there is a whole laundry-list of other brand new parts for the car. Just about everything one could need to put it back to good as new. Some, but not all include: brand new complete quarter-panels (both sides), rocker-panels (plus a very solid used, original set as well), rear inner fender-wells, trunk-floor patches, front-fender splash-guards, rear lower valance/cowl, extra gauge-cluster, lights, stainless-trim, bezels, and much more... too much to list every single item. There are a couple of spots in the floor pans where there is some rust, but not bad at all. Also, one on the driver's side rear frame-horn that could use a patch welded in near the rear bumper. For an un-restored car, though, the rust is pretty minimal. Again...(other than the front fenders) it's wearing all of its original factory paint, so there's nothing hidden under Bondo here, no surprises. What you see is exactly what you get with this one.

All the glass is good. The interior is all original except for the center-console which was added from a different color car (it could easily be sprayed with black vinyl-dye to match the rest). The factory dash-pad is un-cracked, but has some sun-wrinkles on the passenger-side. The seats are nice, with only one tiny wear-spot on the driver's seatback. Each one folds down, and their latches all work. Door handles, and locks also still work, and the car still has its original seat-belts. The rear seats fold down to a flat cargo-floor, and there is a neat pass-through door to the trunk, so you can haul really long items such as skis, lumber, etc. The side-vents on the fastback-roof are also actually functional, and slide open to let in outside air for the rear-passengers which is a cool feature! I think the newer Mustangs just had fake louver-vents back there.

This is a super great start to your next Mustang Project! It wouldn't take a whole lot to make it beautiful again, and Fastbacks are hard to come by that haven't been all hacked up and mistreated by teenagers back in their day! Listed at a very fair price, with no reserve. Thanks for coming to look.

By bidding on, or otherwise agreeing to purchase this vehicle, buyer acknowledges that it is being sold As Is with no warranty. A $500 security-deposit is due within 5 days of auction's end, and remaining balance is to be paid for within 2 weeks (whether car is picked up yet or not). Storage for a reasonable amount of time is available, but please ask before bidding, and let us know what you're thinkin' on timeline. If picking up the vehicle in person, cash, or a cashier's check from a National Chain, such as Wells Fargo is requested (that way the funds can be verified on the spot, before the car leaves town). Otherwise, if having the vehicle shipped, any payment method is acceptable. The car & title will be released once the funds are cleared. Owner holds a good, clear title in his name, and pictures of front & back sides as well as the VIN plate on the car can be provided prior to payment if desired. Deposits are considered non-refundable. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding!
