Car description

This is the car that single-handedly saved Ford Motor Company after World War II. With customers clamoring for new designs, Ford delivered big, and this 1949 Ford Custom Tudor Sedan was the hottest car on the road, both literally and figuratively. The 239 flathead delivers great performance with a wonderful V8 sound and there's plenty of room inside for you and all your friends to have a great time. This car has probably been restored "as needed"... over the course of its life, and today presents as a great driver with a slick black paint job over super-straight factory sheetmetal. So many of these have been customized, chopped, channeled, or de-chromed that it's hard to find a good, honest stock one, but here it is, and in remarkably good shape to boot. The little details that make these cars so popular are still evident, from the famous "bullet nose" grille to the lovely creases that run along the tops of the rear fenders, perhaps foreshadowing the tailfins to come in the next decade. There's lots of chrome and stainless, and restoring it can be a pricey proposition, so it's a good thing that this car's trim is in such good condition with most of the work already done for you. Get in and start driving! The interior has also been restored using a period-correct pattern and comfortable fabrics that make cruising a pleasure. With two-tone gray, it's a pleasing contrast that works well with the old Ford's exterior. Matching door panels with bright accents were stitched up at the same time, and the original window garnish moldings were painted to match the body, tying it all together rather neatly. The dash is as the factory intended, with a large center speedometer that's crystal clear and a wonderful focal point for the driver. The steering wheel offers a cool asymmetrical horn ring and nicely preserved horn button, and the original AM radio is still fitted in the center. There's also an under-dash heater, a desirable period accessory as well as a center-mounted clock that is so elegant the car maker Infinity incorporated a similar set-up in there luxury cars for years. The trunk offers matching gray carpet in place of the original rubber mat, as well as a full-sized spare tire and jack set. Ford's venerable flathead V8 was punched out to 239 cubic inches and a nice, round 100 horsepower, but that doesn't really tell the whole story. Finished in proper Old Ford Blue with all the original equipment, it' ready to drive and show off. It's backed by a 3-speed manual transmission, and will happily cruise at 60 MPH all day. Forget overheating worries, this one is nicely sorted with a thick radiator and even still sports its original 6-volt generator. The only notable deviation from stock is the dual exhaust, but it sounds so good that you won't mind. The chassis is original and quite clean, and it rolls on stock black steel wheels adorned with chrome beauty rings and hubcaps, all wrapped in lovely 6.70-15 wide bias-plys. This is an ideal starter hobby car with V8 power, loads of charisma, and is an absolute blast to drive. Call today!
