THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION... HIGH BID WINS
1987 Ford Mustang LX GT Drag Car
I purchased this car in May of 2013 to use the drive train in a project street rod I was building. It has sit in my driveway for the past six years and due to health problems, it is time to let her go... the original listing for this car from the previous owner will tell you far more about the car than I can so below is an excerpt from his listing:
"This is my old drag-racing Mustang. About 10 years ago I used to take it down to Capitol Raceway in Crofton, Maryland on Friday nights for a bit of fun. It was a real thrill to sit at the lights, taching up the engine and dumping the clutch on green, banging through the gears as I rocketed toward the quarter mile mark. I never got to the level of serious competition, but I had a great time, and car was fast enough to provide a good thrill. I had some great plans for this car, but then I moved overseas, and it went under a car cover in the driveway and sat. Now I'm back, but I don't have the same interests - or the time - to continue on with this car, so I have decided to put it up for sale and give someone else a chance to play. This car was used for racing, and while it looks rough on the surface, it has some goodies underneath, and would be a good basis for someone looking to do some drag-racing. If you want a standard car for a daily driver, please look elsewhere. This Mustang has been sitting for a long time, so it will need a good going-over before being used, but it does start, drive, and brake. This car has the following things: 5.0L V8 - stock internals, fuel injection has been removed and currently is using carburetion, Shorty exhaust headers Dynamax cat-back exhaust, March under-drive pulley kit, Electric radiator fan kit, Lightweight starter motor, Solid motor mounts, Clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing replaced in 2000, Short-shifter Lakewood 70/30 drag shocks on the front, Subframe connectors welded on, 4.10 gears in the rear, 255 liter per hour fuel pump, Autometer shift light, Cheapo tachometer. As I said before, this car does run and drive. I have started it once every year or two when I have been visiting home. It fired up surprisingly quickly when I pulled the cover off the other day. I drove it around the driveway and yard a bit to test the brakes and get pics. The oil pressure is normal, and it didn't overheat (though I didn't check to see if the electric fan was switching on). However, this is not a car that you can come and drive away. This car needs to be trailered to its new home. This car has not been used on the road for 10 years. It needs an oil change, a tune-up, should probably have the gas tank drained, and needs a good general going over. There is some surface rust on the bottoms of the doors (pictured) and on the lip of the rear hatch (pictured), but otherwise, it looks pretty solid. Because there is no interior, the floorpans are easy to inspect and they are solid. The insides of the door jambs and the quarter panels are good too. This car could definitely do with a respray though. I had sprayed it in black primer, but much of that has worn off now. I have tried to describe this car as best as possible. Please be realistic, this is a good car, but it has been under a cover in the driveway for 10 years, it does need work and you will need to trailer it home. This car is sold AS IS."
So, now it's six years later and the car is six years older... she has a new battery, all four tires hold air, will start only with remote fuel bottle due to faulty computer but pretty much the same as it was the day I bought her. Air conditioning condenser, compressor, etc. have been removed to reduce weight... There is no back to the seat in the rear... no spare... no power locks... no power windows... What you see is what you get... The body seems to be straight with minimal rust as outlined above... shock towers are solid. She just needs a good home and lots of TLC.
The winning bidder must send $100 deposit within 48 hours via PayPal and the balance within 7 days... I will assist with loading, shipping or whatever is needed to complete the transaction... Title is clear and in hand.
