Car description |
---|
This is a 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible Project Vehicle. C- Code 289 V8 with C4 automatic transmission. The original factory color is Candy Apple Red. Some has repainted it at least once and looks to have been painted in the other Mustang color Rangoon Red. The data plate color code is T. Comes with Power Steering and manual convertible top. I believe this has been an Indiana car all its life and although typical Indiana rust I found this convertible to be not as bad as some other convertibles I have had that were basically falling into pieces before you could drag it home. A prior owner had started doing restoration work to the body. The left rear complete frame rail has been replaced. The right one is not in bad condition however it does have a section that is about 3 inches long that has rust through and would need at least a sectioning. Most of the floor plans have been replace and some pieces need replaced on the cowl and firewall. There are some new panels that came with the car when I got it. This convertible is very restorable and would make a nice project for someone who wants to restore one of these old Mustang convertibles. I really wanted to restore this one due to the original factory Candy Apple Red exterior color. But I am moving to another state and cannot take it with me. I am not sure on the mileage, but the title is listed with the mileage just over 74K miles. I have a clear Indiana Title that is in my name. The engine and transmission are out of the vehicle but is complete. When I got this car it only came with a 302 short block engine. I pulled the complete 289 engine with the C4 tranny out of a 1966 Ford Station Wagon. The engine was running at the time however it was very tired and would need a complete rebuild. So the engine and trans are not original to the vehicle however it is a correct C- Code engine and of 1966 vintage. The tires where completely rotten when I got the vehicle along with mis match steel wheels. I had a complete set of original Mustang steel wheels with new tires on them so that is the set that is on the car now and of course with go with it. From what I can tell the vehicle is mostly complete however it is missing the gas tank and the original radio. The dash is uncut. I cannot ship or deliver this vehicle. I will aid your shipper if needed. If you are using a shipper make sure that they are aware the vehicle does not run. { it rolls and steers very easily}. The last vehicle I sold that did not run the shipping company was told that the vehicle ran and their driver showed up wearing flip flops and did not want to load the vehicle. I had to load the vehicle myself. I can assure you I will not do that again. Finally the original door data plate is there were it should be and is not painted over {for a change}. Data tag vin number matches the vin number on the left front inner apron. As you can see in the photo of the lic plate this vehicle was last on the road in 1980. Fill free to ask questions and I will do my best to answer. Data Plate Information: Body- 76, Color- T, Trim - 26, Date- 25F, DSO - 34, Axle - 6, Trans - 6.

I will reinstall the engine/trans back into the vehicle and have mounted in place. Will not be set-up to run of course but will have it back in the vehicle in order that the vehicle can be shipped. I will do my best to make sure that all parts are tucked safely into the vehicle. Will purchase some straps to secure as best I can all panels and parts. I of course cannot guarantee what happens to the vehicle and parts if in the event the vehicle is removed from my property by a shipping company.
