Car description

This car was part of an estate and was very well maintained for several decades by its former long-term owner. It runs and stops well. The engine number is 586800, the casting date on the block is 9 22 14. The number stamped on the body under the front seat reads F 10 14 262243.
It has a working Johns-Manville speedometer, which appears to be original to the vehicle and shows 21,097 miles.
The drive train is original. The engine has the correct low head, runs on magneto, does not smoke and has good compression. It shows evidence of having been apart. The engine block has a repairable crack (see picture), but holds coolant (with 50% antifreeze).
The gas tank is very clean and original. The firewall appears to be original as well.
The transmission shifts quietly and smoothly and the bands hold well. The car has the original lettered pedals and original wood floor boards. It has an aluminum hogshead.
The carburetor is an original brass Holley. There is an original brass oil-fill cap with Ford logo.
The car has an original Ford Motor Company flat tube radiator, a brass fan hub with the correct brass grease cup, and an aluminum crank handle.
The suspension is original: correct springs, May West shackles, every lubrication point has an original brass oiler.
The parking brake holds well.
The wheels are correct non-demountables in very good rust-free condition. The spokes are tight. The tires show wear but still have some tread and are not cracked.
The upholstery and convertible top are in nice condition. The vehicle has been professionally painted. There are some cracks in the paint under the doors (see picture).
The headlights and kerosene lanterns are original JNO Brown. The car has three brass step plates and a brass steering wheel spider. The original acetylene generator is complete, still connected to the headlights with a red rubber hose, and appears to be functional.
