Car description

STK 2601 1969 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 The Shelby GT Mustang is a high-performance variant of the Ford Mustang that was built by Shelby American from 1965 to 1968 and by FoMoCo from 1969 to 1970. The '65-'68 models were designated as Shelby 'Cobra' GTs, but the '69 and '70 models lost the Cobra tag and were marketed simply as a Shelby GT350 or GT500. The original GTs were not built for comfort or ease of driving, but by 1969... the GT350/500 models had evolved into a more sophisticated package. Our 1969 Shelby GT500 is a beautiful example of marketing genius. It has been in a private collection for the last 40 years and has been meticulously restored to virtual showroom specs. (We have the MartiAutoWorks Report that verifies the original factory specifications.) The stunning 2-stage Acapulco Blue finish (3077-A) was applied in 2013 and is in excellent condition, Accents include factory gold side stripes, functional fiberglass ram-air hood, new chrome bumpers and beautiful 15" Ford 'Magnum 500-style' wheels with BFG Radial T/A tires. Inside, the interior has been completely refreshed with new seat upholstery, door cards, carpeting and dash pad. Options include tinted glass and the 'Sport Deck' folding rear seat. For a little nostalgia, the factory AM puts out great old tunes. Ford installed a version of the FE engine that was known as the 428 Cobra Jet. The 428CJ was rated at 335bhp, but it provided 440 lb/ft of torque. It is highly possible that Ford's horsepower rating was significantly under-stated (for insurance purposes) because this was one of Ford's best-ever big-block street performance engines. The owner believes that this FE is the original engine and that it was totally rebuilt in the mid-eighties. Our Shelby GT500 backs up the big-block with a C-6 Cruise-o-Matic automatic and conventional differential. Factory gearing was 3.00:1, but we believe that the current ring gear is a 3.50:1. The suspension is tight and managed by power steering and power disc/drum brakes w/dual master. This superb classic is a piece of Ford history â€" one of the last from the 'big-block' era. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
