1965 Ford Mustang Coupe
This is a beautifully restored example of a classic first generation Mustang coupe, the car that started a generation of future classic pony cars. Originally started as a California car with a 200 inline 6 cylinder engine and a 3 speed manual transmission, it was purchased in 2009 as a project and professionally restored by the owner with help from Buckeye Automotive Restoration in Canfield, Ohio. It has been enjoyed and driven by the owner for the last ten years, with the idea of having a mostly factory options Mustang with some new modern performance parts and accessories,i.e., a slight retro mod. Cosmetically the car is absolutely beautiful. It was re-painted Indian Red with brand new mirror shine chrome bumpers and trim and honestly has one of the nicest shades of red on a first generation Mustang you have ever seen. Has never seen salt or snow or rain, and always polished and protected meticulously.
The undercarriage is literally clean enough to eat off of and all of the parts still look brand new even after ten years. Under the hood you will find a professionally rebuilt 289 K Code High Performance small block Windsor V8 engine mated to a 4 speed Top Loader manual transmission with Centerforce performance clutch.
Engine features a Holley 600 cfm 4-barrel performance carburetor, Edelbrock performance high rise intake manifold, roller rockers, Ford Racing chrome valve covers, Ford Racing plug wires with a Summit Racing ignition. Some new upgrades include a brand new fuel pump, Unisteer power rack and pinion steering kit with braided lines, aluminum radiator overflow can for coolant, and a factory reproduction windshield washer fluid bag and lines. As far as performance, this car will surprise you. It's faster than it looks with the engine producing well over 300 horsepower and plenty of torque to boot. It's an absolute blast to drive and it shifts very smoothly, and the clutch is not too heavy.
Car rides on 17" American Racing Torque Thrust M wheels with a Cobra center cap wrapped with Falken ZIEX ZE912 tires. Has gas shocks and coil springs in the front with factory leaf springs in the rear. A Unisteer power rack and pinion power steering kit with braided lines and hoses was also added to give smooth and tight steering and ease of drivability. The brakes on the car are SSBC front disk brakes with rebuilt rear drums and a 5 lug conversion has been done to accommodate the wheels as well as a rear end upgrade with a factory Ford 8" Rear differential with 3:25 gears, rebuilt by Henderson Industries in Westlake, Ohio.
The interior is absolutely immaculate with a brand new carpet, panels, headliner, and seat covers with a factory reproduction Pony Interior (which was an option in 1965). It has the factory optional Rally Pack gauges reproduced by Scott Drake with a functional clock and tachometer. Features a Grant steering wheel with Mustang center cap, with horn button relocated under the dashboard. Also features a look-alike factory AM/FM radio with CD changer capability and a 3.5mm auxiliary cord for iPod or phone capability (though you won't honestly use it because the sound of the engine is too nice to drown out with music).
The car is stored in a protected garage under car cover in the winter with battery tender and driven on weekends and to local car shows three out of the four seasons. Car is fully documented with all paperwork and receipts in a folder. I have owned this car since 2009 and have made a lot of memories with it, but it's time to move on to bigger and better things and let someone else have fun with her and love her as much as I did. By the way, her name is Sally.
