Car description

1957 English Ford Anglia 2dr Cpe. 35,359 original miles
This was a "nostalgia" purchase I made about eight years ago. My Dad bought an identical Anglia new in 57. As a teenager, I got to drive it on weekends, and loved the car. I bought this one wanting to relive the experience, but never got around to fully restoring it. It spent the last eight winters in a heated shop untouched.
This is a cancer free vehicle, that apparently was seldom driven on winter roads. It does have some minor surface rust in a few places. All floor pans and trunk are solid. The factory paint still appears in the wheel wells. The man I acquired it from bought it in 2006 with 35,335 actual miles. It was not drivable due to a 40 below zero cold snap, that left it with a cracked block. The engine was replaced with a like Anglia engine, that was reported to be overhauled. The radiator, water pump, generator, and starter were all rebuilt at that time. Clutch and pressure plate are new. The car has only been driven on short test drives since this work was done. It now has only 35,3xx miles on it. The previous owner renewed the brakes, replaced the front struts. (4) new tires were installed. The gas tank was hot tanked, and I maintained the fuel system with (Seafoam), A new NOS Solex carburetor was installed. I just installed a brand new windshield and rubber gasket. The back glass also got a new gasket at this time. The engine starts in an instant, and has even compression in all four cylinders. (Note: this engine was obviously rebuilt, however I do not have any supporting documents).
Condition:
Original paint (needs redone), straight dent free side moldings, correct fender medallions and hood ornament. No Bondo or evidence of collision damage. There is a shallow crease in the lower left quarter panel, and minor damage on the lower back corner of the drivers door, and a dime sized ding or two elsewhere. Small holes in back panel from dealer medallions. Both bumpers need replacement or re-chromed.... The interior appears complete, but needs a total re-do. Instruments appear to function properly, as do the lights and turn signals.
Goodies:
Sale includes a genuine factory repair manual, a Pearson's illustrated service manual, a "Super tune your Ford 100E" manual, and an original owners manual. All four are soiled to some degree, but totally usable.
