Car description |

I hate to let this car go but we just have too many projects here at the shop, as you can see in the pictures, and not enough time to finish them all. A lucky someone needs to bring this car to the next level. If you want to build a cool 1930's taildragger, one that stands out, one different from the long row similar 30's customs at every car show, this is for you. I've spent countless hours on this car already, making it a solid foundation for whoever tackles it next. Everything was pulled apart and soda-blasted down to bare metal a few years ago and the chassis and body have been worked on and stored indoors the whole time, but over the years surface rust has appeared all over because we live two blocks from the ocean. The rust is light, nothing that can't be quickly ground or soda blasted off. If you are looking to build the nicest, stand-out 35/36 custom, you won't find a better starting point. The car has a clear California title and current license plates also. I've also sought out and collected many great parts for it. All the garnish molding, window mechanisms, cowl vent and glove box etc parts are there. The body is exceptionally nice, a great start for what remains to be done: lots of finish welding and fitting, all the tedious fabrication details - door hinges and locks, etc... The deck lid doesn't have any mechanisms installed yet, hood sides, grill, etc... This car is a diamond in the rough. A huge amount of work has been done, but it will require more than just a couple of weekends to get it finished. View the pictures closely and please ask all questions before bidding. There is no warranty expressed or implied. What you see is what you get: a hard to find original Ford, steel gem.
Here is a list of the modifications so far
Approx 3" chop
Roof filled
Deck lid enlarged and extended ( used the skin from a 39 ford)
Rear fenders extended and peaked ( used sections of a 38 Hudson fender)
Front fenders peaked and extended ( used sections from a 37 Packard )
Narrowed 48 Chevy split front seat
Custom made tapered running boards
Custom made one piece hood and grill surround
Firewall modified to accept the 50's motor I intended to use
Reshaped lower rear end or the car to add more shape and eliminate the "boxy lookâ€
Custom made flush mount wheel skirts
Highly modified 51 Chevy dash with 38 Buick instrument cluster
Floor modified to accept a T-5 trans and lowered body to the ground - rear end and drive shaft clearance
Custom steering column with Volvo ? Steering wheel
Custom frame built from 2â€x6â€, 1/8" rectangular tubing with the front and rear ends of the frame rails tapered down to 4" and mandrel type bends - not crappy simple cut and weld
Lots of crossmember structure and super strong front and rear crossmembers
4 bar rear suspension with panhard bar
Custom made large capacity gas tank - 20+ gallons ?
Mustang 2 setup with manual steering rack
Pictures show proposed ride height - bottom of frame rails approx 5" off ground
80 Granada 9" rear end. 2.75 ratio
15" radial white walls
Front wheels started as 14" Jumbo General wheels modified to fit a 15" hoop
I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot of information about this car, there's so much to try to remember. If you are curious about something I may be leaving out, please send me a message ad ask. Good luck bidding! I can't wait to see someone give this car the attention it deserves.
