Car description

This clean, sleek-looking 1964 Ford Fairlane packs a nasty surprise for anyone foolish enough to pick a fight. It's a brutal look with a great color combination, but where it really shines is under the skin where you'll find a built 572 cubic inch V8, a 6-speed manual, and a chassis built to use every single last horsepower. If that's your kind of fun, this incredible car deserves a closer look. The Fairlane often gets overlooked with... all those Mustangs running around, and that's really a shame. The clean, chiseled lines of this coupe are the perfect blend of '60s sensibility and sporty attitude, and the combination of black and red with the Thunderbolt hood gives tradition a bit of a modern edge. The paint is quite well done and professionally finished, and it's probably too nice to race but too fast to just cruise. This car isn't going to keep a low profile anyway, and the gorgeous paint really makes a statement. The bodywork was nicely done and the steel underneath is in very good condition thanks to a lifetime someplace away from snow and salt. A charcoal gray stripe separating the colors adds to the sporting attitude and we have to admit that the relative lack of trim really works well on the Fairlane. Most of the bright stuff was removed, but things like the bumpers and window frames were painted to match the bodywork, and those air cleaner sticking out of the headlight buckets like cannons is just too cool. The super slick overall look suggests that there's absolutely nothing on this car that wasn't completely intentional. The interior was built for combat but keeps things civilized, preserving the idea that this really is a street car. The two-tone black and red upholstery keeps the exterior's color theme going and makes it look very up-to-date at the same time. Like the bodywork, it was quite well done, and it's holding up well with no splits or tears and it still makes for an effective place to do some serious driving, which we'll talk about in a moment. Aside from the full cage and race seats with harnesses, the three-spoke steering wheel and a B&M shifter on the floor are minor giveaways that suggest this isn't your average custom build. Custom Auto Meter gauges in a flamed-out dash give you a full view of the engine's health, and the entire dash was reworked to accommodate the molded-in tach. The shifter knob says it's a 4-speed, but there are actually six gears inside the transmission, making this Fairlane a whole lot of fun to drive. The beautifully finished trunk carries a custom fuel cell, battery, and a set of oversized wheel tubs hidden behind an aluminum bulkhead. The powerplant is a stout 572 cubic inch V8, and you'd better believe it makes for some very exciting performance. It was built by Al Moody and is based on an SVO 460 block with a square 4.5-inch bore and stroke. Eagle rods, JE pistons with 10.5:1 compression, a Comp Cams solid lifter camshaft, roller rockers, Trick Flow aluminum heads, and a custom high-rise intake manifold with a 1050 Dominator carburetor all add up to 839 horsepower and 779 pounds of torque on the dyno. Yikes! The 6-speed snaps through the gears with authority and a custom narrowed 9-inch housing with Strange 31-spline axles and 4.56 gears delivers the twist. Obviously the custom tube chassis was designed to handle those giant tires, with a set of ladder bars trying to keep it straight. Up front there's a custom A-arm setup with rack-and-pinion steering, and the custom headers with straight exhaust sound absolutely monstrous. Big-n-little Centerline Convo-Pro wheels carry 215/60/15 front and 31x18.50-15 tires that make it sit just right. An extremely cool car with a lot more horsepower than you'd expect, all wrapped in a package that promises a lot and delivers even more. Call today!
