Although 1973 was the final year for the classic Mustang many consider it the very best.

The big body agile pony cars quickly became a fan favorite once consumers realized the next model would change drastically. The handling & comfort level was much more superior than its predecessors!

Since 1969 the Mach 1 model had become a fan favorite & still remains extremely collectable.

This particular vintage Ford has only been under the care of two individuals since new. Originally sold in the Midwest it has lived a sheltered life

(solid floors & under body)! Here's what we know for sure "the first owner utilized it as an everyday driver" and that seems to have continued until 1979. Some time shortly thereafter history points to it being put away since the new family friendly Crown Victoria took precedence. All things being equal there were still days that she made it out of the garage until it was shelved permanently in the mid 80's.

The second owner happened to be a Ford collector from Moberly Mo. He stumbled across the car in the late 90's. The original owner was not willing to part ways with it at the time however he promised to contact him later if that sentiment changed.

(Moving ahead) In 2004 that lucky day came for the next owner. He quickly pounced on the opportunity and took the vehicle to its new home.

For all intensive purposes the car basically sat in the warehouse with the other Fords that he owned until he decided to restore it.

There are both good and bad aspects regarding his attempt and I will try to explain them all from my perspective.

The original exterior (lacquer paint) was stripped of and a new base / clear material took its place.

The paint scheme was a great choice from my view point and it seems most others as well!

Although father time has done its best to diminish its beauty the car still garners praise consistently!

A yellow sunflower exterior makes its presence know proudly (far from subtle)! If you are tired of the traditional red, blue & black cars on the road "don't be afraid to take a walk on the wild side”!

The car truly looks great from a distance but as you approach flaws are evident.

There are multiple places where the clear coat is coming off. The paint itself is still very shiny however it could use a new paint job (even a Maaco covering would work wonders on this 73)!

That being said you could still enjoy the car as is while waiting to paint it (winter project?) or some time later.

As you make your way around the car it will be easy to take notice of the body panel quality.

Although I am not an expert I consider them very respectable (for the most part). The fenders, doors and quarters should all be judged individually. The doors are in great shape yet the fenders are a not quite as impressive (again still very presentable). Both quarters have some minor bubbling around the wheel well but do not need replacing. The left headlight bucket casing is also a little off-kilter. The rear valance panel is bent & the passenger side sport mirror is missing (I have it). I can say dogmatically that the exterior would not need much to bring it completely back to life "if so desired”! This is a vehicle that you can cruise with pride all summer long. I would rather err on the side of caution so that's my perspective.

LETS TAKE A FINAL PEEK!

Since we have covered the bases regarding the exterior let's see what she has to offer inside!

You can almost consider this a tale of two different cities when defining the interiors condition.

The seat upholstery actually looks great. Both front buckets and the rear cushion are very presentable! Black iconic Mach 1 upholstery styling is immediately detectable (total nostalgia). One of the only issues inside is a broken weld on the driver seat frame. Unfortunately this predicament allows the seat back to almost totally recline towards the rear (10 minutes with a mig welder should clear it up).

On the other hand the rest of the cockpit area looks great! The carpet is loop pile and was replaced not long ago. Both door panels practically look new (passenger arm rest worn...I have a new one) and the dash pad is flawless! Taking a glance upwards you will find an immaculate headliner with no defects at all.

The inner quarter trim is in fantastic condition and all of the glass is damage free and on track!

Again very little is needed inside so your attention can be focused elsewhere when you're restoring her.

Once you say the word classic Mustang everyone wants to know "what's underneath the hood”!

This beauty left the assembly line with Fords revered 351 power plant!

The H Code block is respected by almost every enthusiast involved in the hobby of collecting Mustangs.

The one laying under the hood here has only had to endure a little bit over 2k miles since being totally rebuilt! It seems the second owner invested money on the most important part of the car (smart move)!

The engine maintains a nice consistent idle upon ignition. Some of the factory watermark decals can still be found in the designated areas. The horse power that it provides is exceptional & torque ratio values are beyond factory manufacturer specifications.

Once it was removed from the engine bay the motor was bored and stroked for optimal performance!

Preventative maintenance has been addressed by the aid of performance plugs, wires, distributor, water pump, fuel filter, fuel pump, carburetor and new diaphragm, battery, thermostat, coil, alternator, starter, voltage regulator, etc.

A pair of performance mufflers are situated underneath with dual exhaust to ensure that every ride is a thrill! POWERFUL PERFORMANCE ON TAP AT YOUR COMMAND: HONESTLY FUN, FUN, FUN TO DRIVE!!!!!!

TAKE A LISTEN!

In most Ford guys opinion no wheel works better on the big body cars than the race ready Magnum 500!

To keep the trend going a nice set of 15 inch rims can be found on this model. Raised white letter BFG performance tires hug the rims appropriately!

Handling is also great as the suspension has received a clean bill of health "road worthy”!

Again this vehicle is ready to be enjoyed fully! The time, resources and care that have been given through the years can't properly be measured "rare opportunity”!

Here's yet more fantastic news "she's solid underneath”! Great floors, frame rails, trunk etc. The floors are original to the car no replacements! Don't ruin your experience by investing in a rusty vehicle!
