NO RESERVE - Last bidder wins!!!
Selling a 1965 Ford Galaxie Convertible which appears to me to be in completely all original condition!!! As far as I can see, all original paint, original engine, transmission, and all powertrain. This car is in exceptional shape considering it is all untouched. VERY minimal rust, this car comes from Eastern Washington State, some of the driest part of the country, with little moisture and no salt on the roads.
This car was originally purchased as a summertime cruiser... Then it was put into a gentleman's personal collection. I have photographs of it stored inside a large car "museum" of sorts. Many years later it was purchased by my friend's family. His passion was old Fords, and he had a heart for Galaxie's. In fact he had a couple '65 Galaxies. This car sat in his personal collection waiting to restore it. It was the perfect candidate... No rust, straight body, no previous wrecks, immaculate condition, just original. His hope was to customize the interior, add baby moons, and repaint it fresh. But over the years his time and money went into supporting his family, sending kids through college, paying off the mortgage, restoring his other '65 hardtop, and unfortunately eventually with healthcare costs. Soon the passion for cars turned into staying healthy and nursing home fees. And the old convertible sat and sat, year after year, hoping and waiting. It is the perfect car to restore... No cracked bondo, no rust holes, no weird wiring issues, just a clean, solid car that needed freshened up. Our hope is someone will be able to enjoy this car as much as his family does and he did.
This car is a DRIVER! Runs, drives and stops... Needs restoration to be a show car, and needs freshened up to be a reliable driver, but I drove it across town and on a short cruise and it did well... Below is a list of the good/great qualities of the car, and a list of the things that I know of it needs. ANY questions please contact me before you bid! I have tried to carefully represent the car exactly in the condition it is without any exaggerations or inflating anything, but we all see things differently, so call me if you have any questions.
The GOOD and the GREAT:- Top is in exceptional condition - Looks like this was replaced recently as the first step in the restoration...? (I have no receipts indicating this)- I bunch of the interior chrome is brand new. Literally looks mint- Top works perfect. Goes up and down with the switch on the dash hydraulically with no flaws- Heater switch, wipers, all lights, and all electrical seems to work perfect. Wiring looks all stock and great order- All original paint from what I can tell. I have looked carefully and I can't find any indication of a repaint- VERY minimal rust. I would call this car "Rust Free", but everyone has a different idea of what a rust free car is. This is in such amazing original condition for a 50 year old car. See photos and underneath. If you want any more photos please request BEFORE you bid.- Brand new factory hubcaps, chrome looks amazing- Door panels look awesome!- All the trim is there and intact from what I can tell and in great shape. Even the hood ornament- Transmission shifts great- Engine runs great with no ticks or knocks- All body panels straight
BAD:- Drivers side seat upholstery split along seam and small hole on the top and same on back. (not real noticeable)- Paint is laquer-checked in the rear of the car. It was stored well, but the rear end was exposed to sunlight and it cracked it out (see 2 photos)- Typical paint rock chips and small scratch here and there- Very small blisters near rear fender wells (typical place - see photos)- Carburetor is running lean. Not sure if it needs adjustment or needs rebuilt- Windshield chrome (interior) is missing above dash- Engine runs good, but definitely needs tuned up or rebuilt. Smokes a little on start-up- Brakes are soft. The master cylinder seems to be weak - not sure about pads or wheel cylinders
Here are the three ways I see this car going:1) Honestly the car is a great, fun everyday running-driving project. (We had a blast checking it out and driving it around preparing it for eBay... It was really fun.)2) OR it can be cleaned up and just drive it. Tinker with one or two things and just enjoy the sun. I would drive it just the way that it is.3) OR if you are looking at the PERFECT starter car for a restoration project, look no further. This is complete and solid, a GREAT starter!!
