Its model originally hit the market as Ford's luxury offering of the era, and this 1939 Ford Deluxe has the classic looks to fit such a lofty positioning. It benefitted from a frame off restoration years ago and, being equipped with a sturdy body, remains in very solid condition and features an inspired drivetrain configuration that harkens back to the early years of hot-rodding. Yep, this is one stylish vintage ride, with a unique profile that... includes a lengthy hood area, a tapered, compact cabin and flowing front and rear fenders. It's art deco on wheels. While you might find a few blemishes on its exterior when you examine it at close range, these are superficial issues we're talking about. The blue paint this '39 wears is a nice shade and can use a freshening up, but it sits over a very strong foundation below. This is a steel-bodied classic, so it's been well equipped to handle the forces of time, gravity and even weather. Trace the gaps surrounding the body panels and you'll see they're nice and consistent. The look is authentically stock, with no exterior modifications from head to toe, which is a welcome sight from time to time. The collection of chrome exterior fittings - from the ornate front grille on back to the sizable deck lid latch that sits on the unique sloping deck lid - are all in solid condition as well. Tan interior has seen a refurbishment over the years while retaining its original styling and remains in good shape. The tan cloth on the bench seat shows very little wear and both the inner doors and trim panels are still looking strong. A stylishly period-correct steering wheel sits on the column and the dash area just beyond it is another strong point, with its fully functional gauges dressed in their proper parchment-colored faces and vintage fonts, and the steel surfaces surrounding them looking smooth and clean. A long, curved stem puts the manual shifter within easy reach and the one of a kind analog clock mounted on the glove box is an awesome stylistic feature. The trunk area in back borders on cavernous - even with a full size spare sitting in its upright position, there's all kinds of luggage room for weekend getaways, and this stylish cruiser is in just the solid running condition to make those excursions a reality. <BR. The flathead V8 underneath that prominent hood represents a proper homage to the formative years of hot rod performance enhancement. Whereas we often tend to think of aftermarket components as being the territory of more modern powerplants, the configuration on hand here is truly inspired. The flathead has been bored .030 over and now features a pair of dual Stromberg 97 carbs that sit on an Offenhauser intake manifold, along with aluminum pistons, a polished steel crank, a custom Isky cam and an upgraded oil pump, among other upgrades. The powerplant has had the added benefit of being lightly travelled since its build and it sounds the part - it's really running great as it teams with a manual transmission for a proper hands on driving experience. A Mallory distributor has also been added to keep the sparking consistent. Drum brakes at all four corners bring this magnetic looking Ford to a stop as it cruises on a set of steel wheels with sharp looking hubcaps that wear whitewall tires to cap off its thoroughly authentic overall appearance. This 1939 Ford Deluxe represents its era with plenty of style - and with its solid running condition, the good times behind the wheel can start right away. Call today!
