Car description

1983 Ford Mustang GLX Convertible SURVIVOR. TIME CAPSULE. Professional Appraisal in 2009 (2k miles ago): "Never seen one this well preserved. Absolute museum/collector quality piece. Can find no comparables...even close. One of a kind. " We purchased this super impressive '83 GLX Convertible from the original owner, a gentleman in Nebraska. The car had been in Nebraska since new, having been sold new in Omaha. The car served as a summertime toy, and the mileage increments shown on the dozen or so service records reflect this. At the end of '84 the car had 7100 miles, '89 it had 9800 miles, '95 it had 10,800 miles, and in early '09 the car had 11,100 miles. Today the car has 13,230 miles. The car was always garage kept, and never modified. There are still little dabs of factory paint all over the place across the engine bay and underbody. Fantastic to see. With the exception of routine service items, the only non-original part of this car is the tires. Exterior: - Original paint throughout, as confirmed with an elcometer. Paint gauge readings show 2.9-3.4 all around the car. No body panels have ever been resprayed or removed. There are a few minor blemishes and a couple little dings, all having resulted from mishaps while stored in the owner's garage. Every blemish on the car is shown close-up and under direct sunlight in the video along with the listing. - Black trim pieces all present close-to-new. Clean, with a nice healthy shine. No dryness, discoloring, or anything of the sort. - Wheels are in great shape, with no curb rash or other damage. Tires, while in nice shape, are from 2009 so we'd probably replace sooner rather than later. - Glass is all clear, crack-free, and original. - Black convertible top is functional and in like-new condition. Boot cover is in like-new condition as well. Interior: - Original interior is in extremely impressive shape. When was the last time you saw a 35+ year old car with black cloth seats without fraying or tearing on the outer bolsters?! The interior is pretty unbelievable. Please defer to the photos and video, but the seats show no scuffs, burst seams, or significant signs of wear both in the front and rear. - Odometer reads 13,760 and is functional and accurate. Mileage is well documented through service receipts from the original owner. - Carpeting is original throughout and is totally mint. No wear or discoloring whatsoever. Floor mats are much of the same. There isn't even any observable wear on the original pedal pads! - Dash is fantastic. A+. No peeling, damage, or real signs of age at all. Gauges are all functional. - AM/FM/Cassette radio is functional. Heat, fan, defrost, and air conditioning are all functional. As is the digital clock, power locks, power windows, and all lights and signals inside and out. Under the Hood / Underbody: - Underbody is much like the rest of the car, impressive. In looking through the underbody photos, please keep an eye out for the little colored dabs of factory paint. You can see the blue dabs on the factory shocks, yellow on the brakes and drain plugs, and red/orange on suspension components. Floors are perfect. No through rust whatsoever. This car has been garage-kept, covered, and responsibly owned since the day it left the Omaha dealership. - The car runs and drives extremely well. Every bit as well as you would hope from a 13k mile survivor. The 5spd manual really makes the driving experience. The car starts right up, idles cool and steady, pulls hard through the gears, shifts nice and smooth, has great clutch feel, tracks straight, brakes straight and effectively, and truly has no tendencies of any concern whatsoever. And after sitting here in the showroom for a couple weeks, there are still no fluid drips underneath it! This is an excellent example across the board.
