Hello nostalgic Hot Rodders world wide. Up for auction is one of the nicest 1940 Ford coupe's to ever hit Ebay. This car was originally made in to a Hot Rod in the 1950s. 20 years ago, it was carefully taken apart, then meticulously built in to a modern state of the art nostalgic Hot Ro, utilizing todays standards. It truly has the look and feel of a cool show car from a bygone era, with the modern technologies of today. World famous painter, pinstriper, and member of the L.A. Roadster club - Tom "Itchy" Otis did the amazing black paint job, including the flames and striping on this gorgeous car. Itchy is well known all over the world for his work.
The car was featured on the cover of Rod & Custom magazine when they did their entire spread on " HOT 'N' FLAMIN' - The real story behind flames. This was one of their most recognized, as well as popular, issues. The car has also been featured in several other automotive publications worldwid, and is a multi award winner at events all over the west coast.
As stated prior, this model is a Deluxe coupe. It has all of the trim that the deluxe models have, and has the deluxe dash, with extra chrome, and the functional ash trays. The original builder opted to go with a standard grill like so many builders have done since the 1950s. To many folks like myself, they simply look better. The black paint is stunning, and so are the traditional late 1950's/early 1960s style flames. To keep with the nostalgic theme, a set of 8.20x15 Firestone wide white walls are tucked under the rear wheel wells, and 5.60x15 Firestones are up front. These are mounted on a set of 15" steel wheels "steelies" with V8 Ford caps, and thin beauty rings. The wheels were also professionally pinstriped by Tom "Itchy" Otis. All glass,rubber,weatherstripping,12 volt wiring, gas tank, tires, radiator, lights, etc are brand new.
The interior on this '40 Ford was beautifully done in red & white "Tuck & Roll" interior, with white headliner, red piping, chrome garnish moldings, a white painted dash, with a red '40 Ford wheel. A custom back seat was hand fabricated, looks factory, and can easily sit one adult, or two kids. I have always felt that the early Fords have wasted space behind the front seat, so this makes for useful as well as practical space. Plus, its great to have the entire family participate in car shows, cruise nights, and parades. A hidden panasonic AM/FM stereo with CD player is hidden inside the glove box. High quality 6x9 speakers are mounted under, and to the sides of the rear seat, so that they are not visible.
The entire trunk is also upholstered in red & white Tuck & Roll. A gallon of antifreeze, a tool box, floor jack, and brand new spare tire with cover, complete what one would expect in a nice driver quality show hot rod.
Under the hood of this beauty is a high performance 302 cubic inch Ford V8 with over 350 horsepower. Chrome alternator, Holley 650 cfm carburetor, Edelbrock intake, mild hydraulic Comp cam, forged pistons, dual roller timing chain, and balanced internals help make this engine powerful and reliable. a C4 three speed automatic transmission is hooked up to the a tall Lokar shifter. A 9 inch Ford rear end is mounted on parallel leaf springs, and the gears are 3.23. Dual exhaust with glass pack mufflers exit the rea, with a set of "pea shooter" chrome tips.
Folks, there is over $75,000 invested in this car, but I am willing to let it go at a fraction of that investment. Getting married, and purchasing a home forces the sale of this amazing Hot Rod. I might consider a partial trade - partial cash, so let me know what you have, otherwise feel free to make me a respectful offer that I can't refuse. I will gladly ship this car anywhere in the world! My family has dealt with a couple different Auto Transport companies that are reputable, reliable, and affordable. Buyer pays for shippin, and I will see to it that the car arrives in a safe and prompt manner. All sales are final. Ask questions prior to bidding and/or buying. There are no warranties, exchanges, or refunds. I reserve the right to end auction at any time. Thanks for viewing this auction, and have a wonderful day.
