1929 Model A Roadster Pick-up
Built in California plant (SF) and has been a California truck its whole life.
The rusty patina has a satin clear coat and has all the right wear and tear dings, scratches, and marks that have been earned over the past 90 years.
In 2017 the body was removed, and the original frame was boxed in for strength. A 1968 Mercury Cougar with less than 7000 miles was used as a donor vehicle which had been parted out in 1968 after a wreck.
The FORD 289 engine and C4 automatic transmission was put in the frame along with the Ford 8.5" rear end. A 3- row aluminum radiator was hidden behind the stock grille shell and an electric fan was added.
Some springs were removed from the stock rear leaf pack to lower the stance. A 2.5" drop axel was used up front.
All four wheels have disc brakes and conventional shocks were added to improve the ride.
A 1920 era shipping box was located at an antique store and modified to conceal a 15-gallon fuel cell in the truck bed.
1934 Ford 17" wire wheels in the rear, with 1935 Ford 16" wire wheels in the front. All with Firestone wide whitewall bias-ply tires.
The stock Ford front fog lights have been wired for use as the front turn signals, the stock Ford truck headlights have been updated to LED headlights with out changing the exterior appearance. The rear tail lamps/blinkers also have LED bulbs inside.
There is a stereo system concealed under the seat and two 6.5" speakers concealed under the dash. The system is loud and clear travelling down the road, but no one knows it is there. It is controlled with a small remote.
1960's style metal buckle seat belts have been installed.
This is NOT a Rat-Rod. This is a genuine Ford Model A Roadster Pick-up truck. All the parts are from Ford. The modifications are like how a hot rodder would have built the truck in the late 60's.
This truck runs and drives great. It travels down the road comfortably at 70 mph and stops well with the disc brakes. It runs at a consistent 190 degrees, even across Death Valley (I have done it). There is under 10k miles on the running gear and only 2500 miles on the build.
This is a fun vehicle to drive and everyone who sees it loves it. You can take it to a car show and park next to a $40-80k hot rod and watch it draw more of a crowd.
I am 5-10, 200 lbs. and comfortably fit in the truck. I have no reservations about jumping in this truck and making a few hundred-mile trip reliably.
This is a REAL truck, not a kit. It is Clean California titled and insured as a 1929 Model A Roadster Truck. It has matching 1929 California license plates which are worth several hundred dollars by themselves.
