Have you been searching for a mint condition entry-level classic car to drive & enjoy, as well as win trophies at your local car events? Well folks, I think I have the 'perfect' car for you!'Red Hills Rods & Classics' is happy to offer you this absolutely gorgeous 1966 Ford Mustang GT Resto-Mod Custom! This beautiful little Pony underwent a complete nut & bolt rotisserie restoration in 2002, and has only been driven 1,390 miles since its completion. It was... immediately featured in several national Ford & Mustang publications after the restoration, and was used as an example of how to build the perfect classic Mustang Resto-Mod Custom. The idea was to create the perfect '66 Mustang w/ a mostly factory stock appearance but w/ all new contemporary components for superior driveability. Well, I can safely say that they hit it out of the park! The car retains all of its original sheet-metal, which is 100% rust-free throughout. There were absolutely no signs of any metal replacement whatsoever, including the floors & rear quarters, etc. w/ tests showing very minor thickness variations consistent w/ having absolutely no filler other than very light skims & sealers. The sheet metal is laser straight all of the way around the car. It was then finished in the gorgeous shade of Midnight Blue Pearl, which is one of the prettiest colors I have ever seen on a Mustang, and all of the chrome, brightwork, badges, etc., are in show quality condition. Every single component on this car from front to back and from top to bottom is new and/or completely restored, including: custom grille, all new glass, mouldings, weather-stripping, door handles, door/trunk latches, '302' badges, etc., everything shows 'as new'! She has the perfect stance sitting on polished 16" American Racing Wheels wrapped w/ beefy Firestone Firehawk radial tires (225/50/R16 front & back). The undercarriage is very nicely detailed w/ upgraded components throughout, including: 4-wheel disc-brakes, dual exhaust system w/ X-pipe, new springs, new shocks, heavy-duty sway bar, new brake lines & fuel lines (all properly bracketed), new gas tank, new 9" Positraction rear-end, etc. (see undercarriage photos).Open the driver's door and you will find a beautiful new white Pony interior w/ all of the GT options & custom touches throughout, including: custom white-face gauges, white-face GT gauge package, lighted door sill plates, wood dash inserts, Grant steering wheel, Vintage air conditioning (blows ice cold), digital AM/FM sound system w/ built in speakers in the kick panels, dark blue loop carpeting throughout, blue seat belts front & back, etc. The white Pony interior really pops against the Midnight Blue Pearl exterior and makes for an absolutely gorgeous color combination. The best way to describe it is 'pure eye-candy'!Open the hood and nestled inside the beautifully detailed engine bay resides a fresh 302ci engine w/ cam & cylinder head upgrades, dressed in aluminum Cobra valve covers, chrome air cleaner, Edelbrock 650cfm carburetor, electronic ignition, custom-built headers, custom-built aluminum radiator, upgraded power steering, chrome oil cap, chrome stabilizer bar, etc. The beefed up 302ci motor is linked to the original & completely rebuilt C4 automatic transmission, which feeds power to the new 9" Positraction rear-end. She fires up instantly, settling into a nice smooth idle, and she runs, drives & performs beautifully in every way. I was shocked at the power/torque that the 302ci motor delivers, as I was pushed back in the seat hard when I applied my right foot down firmly. The C4 transmission shifts smooth & precise w/ no clunky sounds whatsoever, and the dual exhaust w/ X-pipe sounds excellent, w/ a nice throaty rumble. The upgraded power steering & 4-wheel disc brakes make driving around town effortless, and when you get her out on the highway she tracks straight & true. The custom-built aluminum radiator allows this Pony to run nice & cool even in 100+ degree summer weather.I have had dozens of '65-'66 Mustangs over the years and I can safely say that this particular car is one of the best driving examples that I have ever experienced. Simply stated, this is a whole lotta' car for the money! Considering the absolutely beautiful color combination and the laundry list of upgrades, you could never in a million years build this car for anywhere near the asking price. Again, if you have been searching for the perfect entry-level classic car that needs absolutely nothing to drive & enjoy and/or win a room full of trophies, it will be very hard to beat this gorgeous 1966 Ford Mustang GT Resto-Mod Custom!
