Xtreme Restoration in Slatersville, Illinois, completed the custom build on this 1936 Ford using a one-off chassis with 1936 frame rails, Kugel independent suspension, a four-link rear suspension and QA1 coilovers front and rear. Driving is made easier thanks to power rack-and-pinion steering and 4-wheel power disc brakes with Wilwood discs and SSBC calipers. Featuring a 354 CI Hemi V-8 engine built with all the right stuff—including a Holley 670 CFM 4-barrel carburetor, Vertex electronic ignition system, Tri-Y Headers and custom powder-coated exhaust with Glasspack-style mufflers—a 727 automatic transmission and Currie 9-inch rear end with 3.00 Positraction and 31-spline axles send the power to the wheels. Finished in Sunset Orange, the color is supremely unique and offset by a tan convertible top and a multitude of one-off chrome, stainless and aluminum details including the wheel covers and hood modifications. Even the nuts and bolts are polished stainless or chrome, lending even more credence to the attention to detail bestowed upon this Street Rod. Toyo whitewall tires wrap Metallic Artillery wheels painted in a hue of yellow-gold, complementing the top and interior, which is upholstered in tan with custom stitching, elegant carpeting with matched floormats, and a dashboard of wood that matches the steering wheel and gear knob. Twin chrome side-view mirrors flank the windshield, and the side windows have been given distinctive sliding glass similar to vintage airplanes. Featured in multiple magazines and having received a number of awards, this inimitable Street Rod aims to impress while remaining a comfortable, powerful ride, the likes of which will never be seen again—part of the allure of Rods. They truly are rolling art, each one a personal expression of taste. The 1936 Fords are not often seen turned into Street Rods or Hot Rods, making this one, once again, even more unique. But, the larger body provides an ample interior and rides on a larger chassis, providing a better ride, which begs the question why more builders didn't more often use this model of Ford.
