Car description

There's no rebadging or other visual sleight of hand involved here. This 1966 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 is the absolute real thing! It still features its original colors both inside and out, and harbors numbers matching power under its scooped hood. No need to rely on trust here, either - this ultra-rare specimen will pull into its next home carrying not only build receipts and photos to document its restoration process, but also authentic Shelby certification as testimony it's one... of their prized masterpieces. Its Wimbledon white exterior, set off with blue stripes across the length of its body and just above its rocker panels, represents a signature color scheme for this true automotive icon and it's looking great here. The paint has good depth and a nice shine and the striping shows razor sharp edges and consistent color. This restoration took place in the recent past, so you won't find any signs of fading or oxidization anywhere. When the session inside the paint booth was completed and the re-assembly process began, an impressive array of either entirely new or thoroughly restored exterior fittings were mounted in place - the bumpers in both front and back, taillight bezels, side mirrors, door handles and trim all feature an unblemished, shiny chrome finish and you'll find crystal clear glass on all four sides of the cabin that's surrounded by fresh rubber seals. Many classic car enthusiasts have come to associate those distinctive quarter panel windows as a defining feature of Shelbys, but as a '66 this GT350 was among the first to feature them. Who doesn't love that unmistakable new car smell? It's in full effect here - the collection of nearly new components inside the doors still radiate plenty of it. Climb inside and you'll be surrounded by a great looking vintage driving environment. The bucket seats up front show no real signs of wear and the folding bench seat in back functions just as intended while reflecting the same condition. Both sit over an expanse of black carpeting that also looks to have been recently installed and is accented nicely by the Shelby-branded floor mats up front. An authentic Shelby steering wheel is still on its column, while just beyond it, the dash area is really looking sharp, with an instrument cluster that's carrying an assortment of fully functional and easily readable gauges, control knobs and switches that are all nicely finished, and a straight, fresh dash pad upon which sits an authentic Shelby tachometer. Raise the hood and you'll be greeted by a well-detailed engine bay, with the original 289 cubic inch V8 holding court at its center. Underneath its properly badged chrome air cleaner sits the generously proportioned 4-barrel carb that helped equip this GT350 with an extra 30 horsepower over its more commonly encountered stablemates. Everything is in good order here - the Monte Carlo bar joining the inner fenders for added rigidity and the shock tower braces still have their clean black finish and all hoses and wiring look fresh. The drivetrain is numbers-matching from front to back - the original 3-speed automatic transmission is still in place, as is the 3.50 ratio Power Lok rear end. A look below will provide further evidence as to just how thorough the restoration process was - the undercarriage is well-prepped and really looks great. Front disc brakes provide fade resistance while helping to bring the set of 15" Cragar wheels outfitted with Goodyear radial tires to dependable stops. This 1966 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 is an ultra-rare, thoroughly restored piece of American automotive history that would be the undisputed crown jewel of any collection. Call today!
