Car description

Don't let the low-key look fool you, this is a clean little Mustang coupe that includes a smooth 289, unusual and attractive Acapulco Blue paint, and enough upgrades to make you want to drive it every day. With Mustangs in the spotlight at every show, even coupes are seeing nice gains, so if you've been wanting an affordable vintage pony, this might be a great opportunity. The bright blue paint on this handsome coupe looks very much like code D Acapulco blue, which was a somewhat rare color in 1967, but given how it looks you have to wonder why. It's not a powder blue, but rather a strong metallic that seems to change as you walk around it and the light moves across the panels. It's definitely got a pleasing shine thanks to two-stage urethane paint, and since it's already a few years old, you don't have to worry about being the first one to put a scratch on it. And we especially like the way they've kept it simple: no stripes, no fake GT equipment, no vinyl top. The lowered stance is enough to make the coupe look aggressive without being over-done. Some nice chrome, polished stainless, and a classic Mustang grille all add to the well-maintained vibe of this coupe. The standard black interior is also how this car was spec'd originally and it looks quite nice today. Lots of fairly recent equipment and correctly detailed seat covers and door panels give it a very inviting air inside. Newer carpets and weather seals make it feel solid and quiet inside and heavy rubber Mustang floor mats help keep it tidy. Options include an under-dash A/C unit as well as an AM/FM/iPod stereo in the original radio's spot, with modern speakers throughout the passenger compartment. Original gauges are in decent shape and a fat wood-rimmed steering wheel seems like the right choice in a vintage Mustang. The back seat looks completely untouched and the trunk is trimmed with a correct plaid mat. There's every reason to believe this is the original C-code 289 cubic inch V8 living under the hood. It's quite stock save for a few chrome dress-up pieces, and has that eager, bubbly feeling that made these torquey, small-displacement engines so popular. Ford Blue is on the block while reproduction decals were used to add authenticity. The giant A/C compressor suggests that the A/C was installed at the dealer or early in this car's life and the Optmia battery ensures that it fires up every single time without worries. Backed by a C4 3-speed automatic transmission and tall gears inside the pumpkin, it's a superlative cruiser that feels quick but doesn't get too busy on the highway. Racy-sounding glasspack mufflers make the most of the 289's output and the undercarriage is surprisingly clean and well-kept. New parts include the gas tank, shocks, and exhaust system, and power steering is a welcome option. Attractive styled steel wheels are an inch bigger than stock and carry fat 235/60/15 front and 245/60/15 rear performance radials. Simple, fun, and easy to maintain, early Mustangs are popular for a lot of very good reasons. If you've been looking for a value-priced Mustang with no excuses, this is it. Call today!
