This truly unique hot rod is estimated to have been built sometime in the 1980's by a truly creative and talented individual. In fact, to take on the design and build of such a project would overwhelm all but the most talented builders of the era. Starting with the ever so popular 5 window coupe body, the car was then carefully blended together with a rear mounted 1965 Chevrolet Corvair flat six cylinder motor and power glide transmission. The original 140HP engine was completely rebuilt last year - bored, with an upgraded camshaft installed. It was then topped with an HEI distributor, high voltage coil, and a quartet of four famous Wolf brand rebuilt performance carburetors.... and accented by ALOT of chrome. The powerglide automatic transmission was also just fully rebuilt (and warrantied). Both the front and rear suspension was also sourced from a 1965 Corvair and carefully conjoined to the 36 Ford frame, creating a fully independent 4 wheel suspension that rides and drives tight and smooth. With no driveshaft in play, there was no longer a need for a center driveshaft hump... providing for a flat floor untypical of the era. A full belly panwas then added to the bottom of the frame to provide a custom finish, and then rounded out by 4 McLean chrome wire wheels with Hankook big and little tires.

The soft burgundy interior is in amazing shape for its age, and was tastefully done with custom stitching accents thru-out. Other than being dated by today's standards, it is in beautiful condition. You'll find a power drivers seat, tilt/tele column with wood wheel, AM/FM stereo (with a CB!), dual adjustable overhead lights, a gas powered vintage heater and a rear mounted 4 vent A/C unit. The 80's vintage lacquer paint presents very well for its age, but does show its share of chips and cracks. Under the original hood is a lighted, finished 'trunk', with a removable matching carpet. And tucked deeply into the lighted 'trunk' is the eye-popping, chrome accented 6 cylinder motor. The rear spare tire carrier on the car comes off easily to further expose the engine for ease of service (in addition to the access thru the trunk lid).

Imagine the fun of opening the original hood at a weekend car show and then just walking away and watching from a distance the bewilderment of the spectators trying to figure out what powers this car! Maybe add a hamster wheel for added fun and laughs! LOL

About the 'climate control'..... I have never tried the vintage heater, but it appears to be all intact. As to the air conditioning - it appears to be complete except for the engine mounted compressor. The front mounted condenser, drier and blower unit with controls are all in place.

This car is being sold with a clear IA ownership certificate, signed off and ready for a new registration. The license plates (COOL 36) are reproductions, and are not registered to the car, but will be included in sale. I purchased the car this summer, and found the transmission to be slipping and unable to stay in drive. So I spent nearly $2,500 on a new transmission......at the same time moving to a new place with half the storage as my prior place. Needless to say, I have only driven the car a handful of times. But I can say it does drive nicely, thanks to the many thousands of dollars recently invested in the engine, transmission, brakes, tires, etc after the car spent decades in an east coast slumber. On that note, this car has NEVER been seen at a west coast car show. Meaning YOU can be the first if you live in the western states!

This car is a GREAT deal! What else can you buy in the mid 20K's that has this kind of look and individuality! The car is located in Paso Robles, CA - exactly 1/2 way between Los Angeles and San Francisco - on CA Hwy 101. More specifically, I'm 190 miles to greater LA or SF, and only 110 miles to either Bakersfield or Fresno (either/or....same either way).
