If you are a Mustang aficionado, then you know how special this car is. If you are a fan, but not sure how special an S code '68 convertible is, then read on, and read up on it. This car is not only beautiful in its factory original colors, but awesome powerful with its factory correct big block engine and 4-speed gearbox. It doesn't get much better than this. And just in time for summer! This is... a real deal, documented, GT convertible. The badge on the front fender is legitimate and therefore comes with all the upgrades that make the GT package so desirable. The badge, the GT stripe, and the fog lights are the visible differences on the body. And isn't that body beautiful in its fresh Acapulco Blue paint? The light of the sun or the streetlights catch the creases in the hood and the tops of the fenders as it moves down the street. Up front a thin chrome bumper adds a bit of its own sparkle and the grill is trimmed in chrome with the galloping Mustang in the center flanked by those fog lights. At the rear, a special GT gas cap flips open rather than being unscrewed, and those iconic three segment taillights are underlined by another shiny bumper and quad chrome exhaust tips. The Parchment white convertible top looks perfect with the blue and looks great whether it is up or down. Open the door and you will find the same gorgeous Parchment white in the interior. The door panel has a pleated center with a wood accent panel surrounded by smooth vinyl, divided by thin chrome piping. A two-spoke steering wheel looks classy sitting in front of the wood toned dash with a parchment lower. The gauges are clearly visible nestled back in their pods away from the glare of the sun and trimmed in chrome. Bucket seats are comfortable with pleated centers and smooth edging, and a center console has been added for a bit of extra storage along with the convenience of a cup holder. The blue carpeting looks great and gets back to the beautiful color combo that the blue and parchment are together. But if you grab that Hurst shifter and start stirring it around while romping on the gas, you will become much more focused on how fast this car is, and less focused on how good it looks. S code means that this car was delivered with a 390 cubic inch big block engine that makes 325 horsepower and 427 lb-ft of torque. In practical terms, that means hang on tight if you decide to cut it loose! Ask your salesperson about the detailed engine casting information for this car that will be of interest to collectors and engine builders. The engine is all stock and glorious in Ford engine blue with a chrome air topper and chrome " Ford" valve covers added for a little flash. The engine bay itself is nicely detailed out with the correct stickers on the air filter housing, shock tower, and firewall. Power flows back through a 4-speed manual transmission to a Ford 9-inch, limited slip rear end with 3.25 gears. The GT package includes heavy duty springs and shocks front and rear, as well as a bigger front sway bar and front disc brakes. The rubber meets the road through 205/75R14 tires mounted on GT wheels all around. A classic Mustang convertible in a beautiful color combination with an awesome big block GT package. Call or come down and check this car out. You may be glad you did.
