Heat. Vinyl Interior SELLER REMARKS The age of the pickup truck as serious collector vehicle is upon us. and if you're looking for a good one. you should buy now because top-quality vehicles like this 1950 Ford F-100 won't be getting more affordable in the coming years. A 2003 Dearborn award winner (which means at least 950 out of 1000 points). this is perhaps the nicest early Ford hauler we've ever featured. The handsome dark blue paint is every bit as shiny and lustrous as it appears in photos. and the past ten years have not really done much to diminish its quality. The investment in getting this truck to this level had to be significant. even in 2003 dollars. and the care it has obviously received in the intervening years means that it could still grab some trophies today. Panel fit is quite likely better than new. with doors that close easily and don't have that cheap sound that beat-up pickups always seem to demonstrate. and the big clamshell hood fits evenly along the fenders. Black painted running boards offer bright cast aluminum step plates that go well with the pickup's relatively upscale look. although the painted bumpers keep it from going overboard. Beautiful chrome and stainless on the grille and hood trim makes this truck easy to identify at a glance. and the bed is nicely restored with lovely wood and painted rub strips that match the bodywork. Trucks were meant to put in a long day's work but when the interior is this inviting. you might never want the day to end. The tan vinyl on the original bench seat really warms up the look and contrasts beautifully with the dark blue paint. Correct cardboard headliner panels and painted doors maintain the factory look and the oversized steering wheel makes this pickup feel nimble around town. The factory gauges are neatly refinished and the center stack offers matching tan plastic. which was notoriously fragile in its original form. There's an accessory heater under the dash and it remains fully functional. so the truck is pleasant to drive even on cool autumn days. The 239 cubic inch flathead V8 is a big part of why this truck is such a joy to drive. Starting with a touch of the button on the dash. it's completely dialed in and doesn't get "flathead fever" or any of the usual crankiness that afflicts neglected V8s. Instead. it purrs to life with a familiar starter sound and idles so smoothly you'll quickly forget this is a pickup truck. It's brightly finished in Ford Red paint. which is correct for trucks. and it's topped by a correct 2-barrel carburetor and oil bath air cleaner. A 6-volt generator still makes the electricity and the familiar twin radiator pipes are properly secured with OEM style clamps. The 3-speed manual transmission shifts easily with the column-mounted shifter and control efforts are quite light. so this truck doesn't need a lot of muscle to maneuver. 4-wheel drum brakes are effective given the truck's size and performance capabilities. and the smart-running flathead is content to motor along all day at 50 MPH. A glance underneath will reveal why this truck was so decorated in competition and with Firestone wide whites. trim rings. and hubcaps. the truck has an old-fashioned look that suits it well. They don't come much nicer than this and we'll wager that in a few short years. this price is going to seem like a bargain.
