Car description |
---|
1970 Ford Mustang.
This car was designed and built as a street car with excellent track day capabilities.
Safety: they car has a 6 point roll cage starting in the front it connects the front frame rails to the interior cage it connects the front and rear frame rails, and connects the rear frame rails to the interior cage. This cage stiffens the platform; enabling it to be safe and handle very well.
Harnesses: 5 point harnesses in each front seat.
Brakes: Wildwood 4 piston brakes front with 13 inch rotors. Rear Wildwood brakes with 9 inch rotors. Power brake booster. Stainless steel lines.
Drivetrain:
The drivetrain is all modern componentry designed for easy street driving and track days. The engine / transmission / rear end combination allows for 2k RPM all day Cruising and tire roasting power in the lower gears. Each component was bought to be "bulletproof" and of the highest quality available at the time.
Engine: 351 Winsor with AFR195 heads, ported out. Edelbrock dual plane intake with Holley carb.; electric choke (new). Long tube Headers and a great sounding stainless exhaust round out the package. New race Oil pan and oil cooler plumbed in. Modern Serpentine belt setup, New Radiator and fan; car runs 180 degrees all day.
Fuel New tank, new braided lines, Aeromotive fuel pump and filter.
Trans: Tremec TKO 5 speed with 5th gear overdrive. Clutch Modern Driveline carbon Kevlar, The "Z" bar clutch actuator has been replaced with a Modern Driveline cable assembly. Modern Trans mount and cross member. New and balanced drive shaft.
Rear End : ford 9inch; hardened axles, 373 gears; Eaton Posi carrier.
Suspension and Steering
Steering: TCP rack and pinion steering. There is a slight bumpsteer condition. I have purchased the TCP bumpsteer kit, which is included with the car and can be installed by any competent alignment shop.
Suspension: Full Global West front and rear suspension. Front is the tubular upper arms, boxed lowers, Global West torsion bars, springs and Koni shocks. Rear is the Global West springs, Dela Lum bushings, adjustable AFCO shocks and a Watts link. Kumho 175 17 tires in rear, 245's in frontThe car handles really well.
Interior:
Stewart Warner gauges, perfect fit heat and A/C, new carpets, leather steering wheel cover, center console and Hurst shifter. Definitely needs a new dash pad. I have the glove box and a lot of trim pieces
Exterior. The body is decent, it has a rust hole in the lower quarter and could use a paintjob. I have a lot of trim pieces for the car. A good wash wax and buff makes it presentable.
What works well: Lights (new Halogen), signals, interior lights, engine start and runs well trans. shifts well, the power the stopping, the handling. The car runs, drives, stops and turns and is very reliable. The car has been completely re-wired with a modern wiring loom. The safely elements make this a very good car to drive and enjoy; this car does not feel like a 47 year old car; it was designed to be a modern drivable, trackable car.
What doesn't work well: Wipers, Horn (just tap the Gas; everyone will move), gauges. Definitely needs a dash pad. A/C is there but not installed; I have the A/C pump condenser, etc. The included bumpsteer Kit will perfect the front end.
