Car description |

This is a 1979 Ford Fairmont station wagon. It's a good running and driving car that I've owned for about 4 years but it could use just a little attention. Specifics are as follows.....
DRIVETRAIN - It's a straight 6 cyl engine that runs just as it should. It's not fast but it runs well. It doesn't use much oil and there are no misfires or unusual vibrations. Strictly business getting you where you need to go. The transmission shifts nicely. No issues at all. There is a small brake fluid leak that needs attention. I usually check it once a week or so and add fluid if needed. All 4 brake lines have been replaced. The exhaust will need replacement in the near future but is good for right now. The front suspension is tight with no unusual vibrations. The tires still have tread but they're dry-rotted and need replacing. Also included are the original rims with dog dish hubcaps and very nice tires. I'm willing to put these on for you if you're planning a long journey for added safety.
INTERIOR - I would classify this as average or slightly below. Rear seat (not pictured, it's folded down) is very nice. Front seats aren't bad but splitting at seams. The passenger's seat is worse than the driver's seat. The top of the dashboard is faded from the sun but there are no cracks. The carpet is in poor condition on the driver's side and mostly gone. The rest of the carpet throughout the cabin is presentable.
BODY - The body is generally good but the top part of the paint is oxidized. It may come back with a little elbow grease...not sure. Below the pinstripe line is very nice and may have been repainted as I see some rust repair. The rear tailgate still contains the original dealer's sticker...Walsh Ford in Media, PA....long ago out of business in the mid 1980's.
In summary, this is a good solid car that I still use as a backup when mynew car is in the shop. It serves me well but doesn't get driven much anymore. It's time for it to move on to a good home where it can receive a little love and attention. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you for looking and thank you for your bid.
