You are looking at a barn find survivor 1969 Mustang convertible. This local automobile was driven into the barn when a relative passed away and not used for a number of years. As you can see by the Marti Report, aside from the color change from Acapulco Blue to silver, it is completely stock down to the AM - 8 Track radio, whitewall tires and spinner hubcaps.
For those who do not know, the 1969 and 1970 Mustang Fastback models are the pinnacle of style and horsepower although this is the 200 Sprint 6 cylinder convertible.
We believe it has had two families that have owned this car since new and we believe it is complete and original aside from the color change. Below is a video of the Mustang: (1969 Mustang Convertible - YouTube) Video will open in a new window [isdntekvideo] Please scroll down and enjoy the 250+ photos. If you cannot view all the photos, please click here. This Mustang will need a complete restoration but does run and lot drive. The brakes are very soft, it has floor pans and probably other components that will need attention under the car, and has a bit of mouse smell but we believe it to be mouse free.
The options include power top, AM 8 track, and power brakes. We were surprised that the wipers, radio and most of the lights worked, even the horn and interior courtesy lights. The Mustang also includes the original jack and hardware. The glass is also original to the car and in great shape with the exception of a few small marks in the original windshield. The interior is nice, aside from rips in the drivers seat as shown and it could stand carpeting and a detailing. The top is nice aside from one small 1 inch rip that we are guessing could be repaired. The car starts, runs and stops but not well. It has a power top but it only works manually.
If you are looking for a new car, perfect finish, no squeaks or rattles, or the reliability of a Toyota Camry, this car is not for you. If you are looking for a project that could be driven with brakes and other work while you restore it, this vehicle deserves a closer look.
Make no mistake that this is a major project and will need a complete restoration. No, you can't drive it home. We love the original Acapulco Blue color and would consider restoring it and using a later model 302 engine swap. It would be a high dollar car done. This one is one of the most original you will find if you choose to leave it stock.
With the discovery of the original Bullitt and the recreations, as well as the 1967 Shelby GT350 and GT500 vehicles pulling historic values, this is a great investment in our opinion.
