Description
Ford stylist E. T. Gregorie couldn’t have known he was helping to define the future when he styled the new 1940 Ford trucks. By adapting the design for passenger cars to Ford’s lightduty trucks. he harmonized the entire lineup in a very modern way. These models had instant appeal and today. some consider them the most attractive of any Prewar vehicles. let alone trucks. from any manufacturer. There were still a few mechanical carryover bits dating back years. but the 1940’41 trucks had improvements throughout. Even though Chevrolet countered with new models the following year. Ford was so happy with their models that they continued with few changes. One of the biggest changes. however. is on display here. For the first time. the truck could be had with optional twotone Ford Blue over Black paint. /p> complemented by optional pinstriping. Invisible but very welcome is the flathead V8. /p> which gives it very useable performance at 85 HP. This restoration features many delightful touches. /p> including five whitewall tires. full oak bed with matching rails. beautifully presented dash with rare period radio. and a fully dressed Deluxe front end with fog lamps. grille guard and even a spotlamp. A restoration photo book shows clearly the work which has gone into bringing this head turning Ford into its current condition. With the War halting all production early in 1942. /p>the 1940’-41 Ford pickups were only made in limited numbers. which has only furtherenhanced their desirability today.
