This '76 Bronco is a great looking example of an older but well kept restoration. It has obviously been used but still draws plenty of attention. Mechanically it works excellent. If you want a no guilt driver, this is it!
This Bronco has a great look. The Performance Red paint shows nicely against the polished aluminum and Wimbledon White top. The body lines up well and this one really draws the attention from all age groups. The body is overall solid but does have some paint bubbles from what looks like bad prep. There are bubbles on the passenger quarter panel between the upper and lower quarter panels. There is also some bubbling between the front grill shell and the drivers fender down low where it appears the grill shell and fender paint crowded when assembled then moisture made its way in. The areas are noticeable on inspection but are missed when viewed from 10 feet away. With proper care and avoiding road salt this Bronco should look good for many years to come.
The interior is still in good condition. The carpet is a nice full length kit and fits nicely. The seats have great side bolsters to hold you in. Upgraded seat belts in the front are a 3 point retractable system. The roll bar is a 4-point family set up that protects both front & rear passengers. The stereo system is housed in the cool locking aftermarket console from Tom's Broncos. The factory radio is still in the dash. All the factory heater knobs and pulls work nicely. The instrument bezel is clean and functions properly.
Under the hood the 302 runs excellent. It is very stock and original. Even when cold the choke works nicely. The C4 transmission goes into gear quickly and shifts well. The J-shift transfer case engages nicely. Mechanically this is a very nice Bronco.
Being a '76 this Bronco was ordered with some nice options. The factory Power Steering works very nicely. Steering is tight and precise with the perfect amount of assist. This one tracks nicely down the highway, one hand on the wheel at 60 (comfortably). The Power Front Disc Brakes work excellent. The fenders were modified on later year Broncos to accommodate the larger brake boosters. These bigger boosters provide more assist than most of the small aftermarket units making for much easier stops. The disc brakes provide predictable stops without the drama of drums.
Underneath we did do some cleaning and detailing. The undercarriage is in good order both visually and mechanically. The 2" lift kit from Duff gives just enough room for the 32" tires while not being too tall. The added side steps provide a nice assist for shorter passengers.
Overall this is a great Bronco. It looks, runs and drives great. The paint is best considered a 10-footer so it isn't perfect. If you want a beautiful no-guilt driver this is a good one. If you want more of a show Bronco it will need a respray. The body is straight so any work should be straight forward and easy. Please feel free to call us with any questions! 360-863-2241
