Hello Hot Rodders and Classic Car enthusiasts world wide. Up for auction is THE nicest example of a 1938/1939 Ford pickup to ever hit Ebay. I realize that this is a bold statement, but I have seen what is out there, and nothing can come close to the quality and craftsmanship of this beautiful truck. This has been on the west coast of the U.S. its entire life, and has never had an ounce of rust or body damage, ever. Not only that, but not so much as a blanket has ever been placed inside the bed, as that entire area is in mint condition! The tailgate & bed sides are perfect. Inside the bed floor, stained and varnished oak wood was installed, along with polished stainless steel bed strips, and polished stainless bolts.
This is a fresh build with only 100 miles on it. Starting off with the frame, it was sand blasted and powder coated black. The entire undercarriage is chrome plated! The entire rear end, driveshaft, axle, wishbones, running board brackets, etc. stainless bolts, brackets painted exterior body color, and zinc plated pieces finish everything off nicely. The axle is a real Henry Ford 4 inch dropped unit. A custom spring helps get the front end low.The wishbones have been slightly split, and mount to a TCI split kit so that the suspension clears everything. The pickup has disc brakes and stops like a new car. Vega cross steering was mounted in place of the original unit, and works perfect. The chromed GM rear end is mounted to parallel leaf springs and a rear sway bar.
The cab on the pickup has been chopped 2 inches, and I feel its just enough for an aggressive, proportioned, and unique look. It was metal finished and needed very minimal filler. The body and paint on this beauty is stunning. Urethane torch red paint has been color sanded and buffed to a mirror finish. The hood was louvered for that classic Hot Rod look. All door hinges, strikers, and latches are chrome plated. The Fit & Finish of this pickup is amazing! Well known veteran artist Dave Whittle did the pinstriping on the louvers as well as lettering on the tailgate. All of the glass, rubber, and weatherstripping is brand new, and professionally done by Jacks Glass out of Colton, California.
15 inch Michelin radial tires - 165 R 15's up front, and 235 75 R 15's in the rear are mounted to Wheel Smith solid steel wheels that were painted exterior body color of the pickup. "Beehive" 1941 Ford hubcaps, and thin beauty rings finish off the look, perfectly.
DRIVETRAIN: A 1969 Chevy Camaro high performance 350 V8 engine was professionally rebuilt and balanced. All of the best internal parts were used. It has a mild hydraulic camshaft, forged pistons, arma steel crank, and 4 bolt main. the exterior of the engine is highly detailed with polished aluminum, chrome headers, alternator, water pump, brackets, Corvette air cleaner, nuts, bolts, etc. An Edelbrock intake and 600CFM Holley carb are used for induction, and an HEI Accel distributor are used for the spark. Finned aluminum valve covers,A/C unit and serpentine belt system complete exterior. The firewall is "smoothed" out and painted exterior body color. Like the rest of the pickup, it too was color sanded and buffed to a mirror finish. A 4 row Walker radiator and high CFM electric fan insure the cooling. A rebuilt Turbo 350 transmission was professionally done by Tranny John out of Rialto,California. It has a mild shift kit and it works perfect. A tall Lokar shifter is mounted on top for that nostalgic look. A '69 GM rear with 3.23 gears is mounted out back. Rear was completely taken apart for the chrome plating.
Inside the cockpit is a customized '38/'39 Pickup dash with a nice row of Auto Meter gauges. A Ron Francis wiring kit was installed throughout. A polished aluminum tilt column was installed, along with a leather black Le Carra steering wheel, and matching black upholstery with red piping. Black nylon "loop" carpet is finished off with red piping.
This is a show truck that has had over $75,000 invested in it, but due to a home purchase, I am willing to let this go at a fraction of that investment! Don't let this slip away. I know of two very reputable and reliable auto transportation companies. Buyer pays for shipping and I will see to it that the vehicle arrives in a safe and prompt manner. I will gladly ship this anywhere in the world. All sales are final. There are no warranty's,exchanges,or returns. Ask all questions prior to bidding and/or buying. Due to possible local advertising, I reserve the right to end auction at any time. Potential buyers, feel free to contact me any time, day or evening. Thank you and have a wonderful day.
