Looking for that fun car that nobody has? Look no further! This '73 Pinto is something clearly out of left field. Not only are Pintos rare on the roads today, it is completely unheard of to see a 347 Cubic Inch Stroker with a 5-Speed Transmission powered pony loose on the streets.
With the exception of the driver's fender this Pinto is pretty clean. The Candy Apple Red paint shines nicely and the bright trim is in surprisingly good condition. With the fender repaired this one would be quite nice.
Inside the interior looks great. The stock buckets were tossed in favor of a set of more supportive racing buckets. The back seat is in great condition. Even the dash is nice. You have to do a double take inside to see that it isn't stock. The floor has been modified to accept the rearward engine placement. The trans tunnel has been enlarged greatly but concealed quite well.
Under the hood lives a 347 Cubic Inch Stroked 302. Getting this to fit is not the easiest of tasks. To compound this the installed placed the engine back underneath the cowl making a tight proposition even tighter. To do this a factory 302 HO intake manifold and stock exhaust manifolds were used. A standard Performer camshaft was used as well. This stroker makes prodigious torque. Receipts for the build are included with the car.
The T-5 5-Speed was selected for its compact size and durability. It shifts well and the overdrive is welcome for any highway cruizing. The cable clutch works nicely but the foot-well is tight.
This is a modified vehicle and a work in progress. There are still a couple projects to finish such as the turn signals that currently do not work properly and there is no heater. With some elbow grease though, this could be a very surprising car out on the highways or race track!
