: You are bidding on a1992 Ford Mustang GT Hatchback (Project Car) that has been stripped down and was going to be restored, I will provide you a complete description of what’s happened with the car since I’ve had it. Please note, anyone buying this car should only consider purchasing this car as a PROJECT BUILD car or use for a stock car frame (to modify) for racing. I will throw in things that I still have, and a new intake. Outside of that, assume that there are multiple interior parts, and hardware (screws, bolts, etc.) missing, and you’ll have to purchase as I was going to fully restore this car and purchase all new parts. I will put in the section below WHAT’s INCLUDED which is all you should consider you’re getting with this car. Anything else is just a bonus.
Car History:
I’ve had the car for roughly 4 years. When I purchased the car ran well. It accelerated great and performed very strong. The only issue I had was a smell of heavy gas after about the 4th month of owning it. I was told it was the fuel injectors needed to be changed. Since I enjoyed the car, I decided to fully restore it. I signed up at a local community college with the paint & body department and took a semester course in order to restore paint and body. I spent the semester sanding down the car, and removing all interior parts of the car (along with some exterior parts – like lights, rear mirrors, wind wipers, etc.), as I was going to update upholstery, paint internal panels/trim, etc. Additionally, I was speaking to the guys in the mechanic department, and I started taking out the manifold and removing other parts (removed fuel injectors, ECM PCM Computer, etc).
About 5 weeks into the semester, I received a call from a former colleague about a job opportunity which I could not pass up. I stopped working on the car. I left it fully sanded down, basically ready for paint (based on what the instructor stated) and I parked the car in my garage. 2 years later I moved homes closer to work and I moved the car to a storage unit close to my house and placed a car cover over it. The job lasted for a total of four years long and I recently was laid off from it. The car has been parked outside a storage unit for 2 years with a car cover. Now I have another job opportunity which is positioning itself for relocation late this year. For these reasons, I can’t go back to restoring and will have to sell it.
When you look at the car, it seems like it’s original color was white, and they painted it grey. If you zoom up on the paint, you’ll see how I sanded it down. I’m not an expert on the body, but my instructor stated it looked like the body was in fair shape. The tires have been parked for 4 years outside, so I don’t know what the exact condition to qualify them under. Again, I was going to restore, so I was going to replace everything, so it didn’t matter to me.
When you see the interior pictures, you’ll see the rear spoiler that comes with the stock GT is in the car along with some of the interior plastic panels. I don’t know if all the interior trim panels are there, I don’t believe they are. Just assume you’re going to have to purchase all of them along with hardware.
The pictures of the engine, you’ll see the stock manifold is off. I still have it and will include it with the purchase (which I took a picture and you can see in this listing). Again, I don’t know if I have any of the hardware (bolts), assume it’s not included and you’ll have to purchase.
I do have both front seats (see picture). I also have the rear seat cushions (for back and legs – see picture). I also have the two door panels (no armrest base pads – see picture).
I am throwing in the NEW BBK Intake Manifold, which I only opened the box once but have never taken out any of the parts. The invoice states it comes with a 70 MMTB, since I didn’t take anything out, I assume it's in the box. This is still brand new and cost me $800. I believe this exact model is no longer offered by BBK. It’s supposed to add heavy HP performance.
Basically, you’re only buying what you see in the pictures, nothing more. Also, assume all the screws and hardware are missing. Just think to yourself the value of this car is that you have a good shell to restore from. I don’t believe the ECM computer is there, that’s about $100 at AutoZone or on eBay. I believe it’s called the engine control module. I also believe the fuel injectors are also not included.
I took a number of pictures underneath of the car. There is a small section which I found there is some sort of weld that took place. I have no idea of what that is, it’s something the previous owner must have done. Also, this car has never flooded under my ownership, it was well elevated during hurricanes. This car has also never had an accident under my ownership.
Additionally, you’ll see the car has some non-stock performance parts included. For example, the hood is a Cowl style hood, which works great with the BBK intake I had purchased and I’m including. Also, the pipes underneath are called Bassani Exhaust. They’re one of the best exhaust for the 90’s mustangs. I could definitely hear them when the car was running. Just these two parts alone run about $800 in value.
The car is not in running condition but is available to view if you’re local in Houston area. I don't have the speedometer mileage with me as of the posting of this listing. I'm putting 125k based on an assumption - since the listing won't post without a number, but many of these cars the odometer reading is invalid. THE ODOMETER NUMBER I AM PROVIDING IS SIMPLY AN ESTIMATE, ACTUAL READING CAN BE PROVIDED PRIOR TO PURCHASE IF NEEDED, but mostly likely a car of this era and used mileage would be unknown. Look at the report on this listing to obtain a clearer estimate.
I believe this is a great foundation for anyone who knows how to restore a car or has someone who can do it for them. If you’re tracking these early 90’s mustangs, you’ll see they’ve been coming up in value over the past few years. Many that are in mint condition are selling in the upper 20’s low 30’s (especially with some of the performance parts). Also, if your looking for a frame to convert to a racing car, this is great as well.
