Car description

This is a pretty sweet old truck. This truck has been in my family and passed down since it was bought new off the lot by my father in 1969. I was one year old. It wasn't fancy enough for him so my father sold it to my grandparents after a year or so. They kept it at their ranch but it was too high geared for ranch work. Grandpa died a few years later and grandma kept it because she never sold anything. My sister inherited it after grandma died but didn't drive it so she gave it to me and I promptly restored it to most of it's former glory. I am intimately familiar with every detail of its life. I have personally had it for about 20 years. Our local environment is pretty dry so it has maintained it's structural integrity well. It has never been abused other than sitting for very long stretches of time. I just don't use it so its time to get it to someone who will. CONDITION DESCRIPTION CONTINUED: There is not a single dent on the exterior body. The paint is pretty good for the most part with a nice patina that can be rubbed out if you want it shiny but I have left it alone. There are some cracks in the paint around the driverside mirror(see pics). No damage that I can see but there was a small wet spot on the floor when I opened her up a couple days ago. Ashtray has been replaced. Driver side arm rest is toast. Seat has been redone and seat belts are not the originals. Turn signals and horn need to be rewired. My grandfather cut and rewired the wires for some reason and I undid his handiwork when I recently replaced the shift tube in the steering column. The switch for the windshield wiper has fallen apart. I have all the pieces and it works when I put it together but it won't stay together so it needs to be epoxied together or a new switch. I replaced the radial arm bushings not too long ago and the king pins. Drives very straight and well. Recently rebuilt the carburetor and new fuel pump. Transmission is high geared and super solid. Clutch is in great shape. Exhaust was replaced about 20 years ago and seems to still be in good condition. Fuel gauge quit reading a couple years ago so needs a new float or sending unit or both. When I did used to drive it more regularly it got 20+ miles to the gallon. The engine has a sticky valve that you can hear. Last year when I drove it, the oil light started flickering on and off. I suspect that there was sludge in the oil pan from sitting around for too long at different points in the trucks history and that it had started to clog the oil pump screen. I flushed the engine a couple of times and it seemed to take care of the problem. I recently loaned the truck to some friends for a dump run. When they returned it they said the oil light had come on but since they were close to my house, they tried to make it here. I don't think that was a good idea. They said the truck started running kind of rough right before they got it here. I flushed the engine again. Now the oil light flickers sometimes at idle. I test drove it and it runs fine until it gets to a higher RPM where it starts to make a louder growling sound in the engine at which point I backed off it and the sound stopped. The truck can make it to about 55mph in 3rd gear before the sound starts, but also makes the noise at high RPMs in 1st and 2nd gear. I suspect they may have damaged somthing in the engine when they tried to make it to my house. I wouldn't trust it for a long road trip again until that is all sorted out. The old oil pan gasket has begun to leak a bit as well. It comes with the original owners manual. I also have new Oregon tags good until 2020. That is everything I can think of.
