Car description |

For sale we have here a 1928 Ford Model A pickup truck. This is a great example of early twentieth-century American engineering prowess. This truck is NOT an all-original, 100pt Concourse winner, but has been a lot of fun for a lot of folks for a lot of years. I am not an expert on these, but was told that the engine in this truck is not original, but is in fact a Model B engine. I was told that the Model B is distinguishable by the three-bolt water pump (rather than a 2-bolt on the Model A.) I tried to take pictures that would show this. There is a raised boss on the side of the engine where (again, I was told but am not certain) an ID# of some kind would be. There are no markings on the boss at all, and no numbers that I or my family could find anywhere on the truck. There is a number on the title, but again, I cannot find that number, or any others on the vehicle itself. If this is a concern to you, please save us both the trouble and find another seller with another vehicle that meets your needs. I was familiar with the past two owners, both of whom are now deceased, and would not be selling the vehicle here if I felt there were a problem with its provenance.
I have driven this vehicle myself several times over the past several years, and ridden in it with the previous owner. It was always reliable and performed as well as one could expect a 90-year-old vehicle to perform. There are several scratches, dents, and dings. The paint is not show-quality. The cloth top, and side curtains are present and in good shape, and come on and off as they should. The pictures show several combinations of top and curtains on and off the truck. Again, this is, and was built to be a fun, drivable truck. Used as it should be, with proper care, it should remain so for many years to come.
The truck is currently in Oberlin, Ohio. This sale is for pickup only. We can help load it onto a trailer, but pickup and removal are the sole responsibility of the buyer. A $200 non-refundable deposit is due, via PayPal within 24 hours of the close of the auction. The remainder is payable in cash or cashier's check at time of pickup. Please look carefully at the photos and ask any questions you may have prior to bidding. Starting bid is low and there is NO RESERVE; someone else is going to own this truck at the end of the sale. The last bid is the only one that counts! Good luck and Happy Bidding!

I neglected to mention in the original description that the brakes have been upgraded to hydraulic. Also, the generator has been replaced with an alternator. These upgrades are less desirable from an originality/authenticity standpoint, but more desirable from a drivability/dependability standpoint.
